Have you been to the sale section at National Geograhic lately? There’s all sort of neat stuff on sale, but the book section is where you’ll find the biggest bang for your buck. National Geographic books are always amazingly well done—gorgeous pictures, heavy binding, etc.—and make impressive-looking gifts. (Got a little Star Wars fan in the house? THANK YOU THANK YOU!! The clock was ticking and I needed a gift to ship my godson. I went straight to the Star Wars book and since I didn’t spend alot and got free shipping, for the first time ever I splurged on a gift box. I figure he should like it since he was Darth Vadar for Halloween! He is Star Wars, right?!

I snagged the March of the Penguins book for $9.99, which my daughter had wanted when it was $30.00. But National Geographic is giving Amazon a run for its money when it comes to packaging. That single book came in a 13×18x7″ box, padded with lots of paper and deflated plastic padding. Isn’t National Geographic supposed to be somewhat environmentally responsible?
