February 17, 2008 | Quick Tips, What to Wear
I’m afraid that the worst has finally happened.
As of February 14th, 2008, Zappos has completely removed their price protection policy. This means you can no longer pricematch with them. They have also discontinued overnight shipping.
You can still get free overnight shipping and a 110% pricematch at Endless, but the $5 back (negative $5 for overnight shipping, I think they called it) has ended as well. Shoebuy is also still offering 110% pricematching.
Of the three online shoe stores mentioned above, I still believe that Zappos has the best customer service, and I will continue to patronize them when I can afford to do so… but the deals of yore have come to an end.
What? No, um, there’s just something in my eye….

It is to weep.
February 17th, 2008 at 6:23 pmThat is the worst news I have received all day! Ugh!
February 17th, 2008 at 7:02 pmI have to give a little boost to Endless though, because not only have they always provided me with great customer service, they even comped me the pricematch when I discovered the day after placing the order that they *dismissed* it because the color shoes I ordered were no longer available at the competitor’s store. They told me the way to guarantee your pricematch was to call them and to do the pricematch on the phone while you were placing the order so you don’t miss out. Besides, I always found their website easier to navigate. I would totally pet their hair if I ever met them in person.
But it’s never a good day when a good shoe store goes down.
February 17th, 2008 at 7:19 pmWHAAAAA!!! Mir - I am sick - I did NOT need to hear this. Sob, sob, sob….
February 17th, 2008 at 8:09 pmI’m sure it will be back soon. Once they start to see a drop in their bottom line, the deals will be back.
February 17th, 2008 at 8:35 pmEh, I’d presume that the bottom line (or lack of profits due to great deals) is what made them end it in the first place. And how ironic that 2/14 is exactly the day I told a friend to use Endless or Zappos and enjoy the free shipping in her 9 mo pregnant state…
February 17th, 2008 at 9:26 pmrats!
February 17th, 2008 at 9:53 pmI’m afraid I am a shoebuy girl with all their 30% off deals! Speaking of… Amazon has Columbia mens shoes on sale if you want to price match them.
February 17th, 2008 at 10:03 pm*sniff*
They were the only reason I didn’t hate shoe shopping.
(I suck at being a chick)
February 17th, 2008 at 10:03 pmGASP! WHAT?! I…I never thought this day would come. I’m going to cry a little now. As least you warned me, though. Thank you for that.
February 17th, 2008 at 11:26 pmI am so sad about endless. Zappos was OK but I had to pay sales tax with them so the overnight shipping was a big factor in shopping with them. I hope both retailers come to their senses soon.
February 18th, 2008 at 12:24 amNoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
February 18th, 2008 at 1:04 amWAAAHHHHHHH!!!
No more almost-instant shoe/bag gratification.
February 18th, 2008 at 7:59 am[…] For those of you in mourning over the recent shoe shopping changes, I can offer you a small consolation: […]
February 18th, 2008 at 10:27 amI’m with Leah–that was the only reason I didn’t hate shoe shopping! *sigh*
February 18th, 2008 at 3:56 pmSo SAD *sniff* *sniff*
I just got some pricematched Uggs from them marked down from $250 to $66 total… It finally caught up to them, I’m sure.
No more shoe shopping for me for a while.
February 18th, 2008 at 9:16 pmPiperlime is now offering price match, free shipping and free returns. I’ve never ordered anything from them but they seem to have a vast selection.
February 19th, 2008 at 6:33 amLinda: I have not been overly thrilled with Piperlime’s customer service. I’m not saying don’t shop there, but I’d go to Endless or Shoebuy, first, personally.
February 19th, 2008 at 6:49 amI ordered two pairs of shoes from Zappos yesterday and they are currently out for delivery. About four hours after placing the order I received a “Congrats, we’ve upgraded your shipping” email. Maybe they are still doing overnight shipping but just aren’t promoting it anymore.
