April 19, 2008 | Contests
I tried really, really hard to hate Spongebob Squarepants. I mean, he’s insipid. He’s inane. He lives in a pineapple under the sea!
But it was not to be. I find him hilarious, against all of my better judgment. Alas.
If you (and your kids) do, too, you might be interested to know that I have a copy of the Spongebob’s Pest of the West DVD sitting here, just waiting to go somewhere it’ll be properly appreciated. Could it be to you? Maybe!
For a chance to win this DVD, leave a comment on this post before 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, April 20th, 2008. One comment per person and all that jazz. Winner to be determined by random number generation and electric jellyfish.
Go!

April 19th, 2008 at 3:50 pmMy kids love Spongebob! And this could increase my coolfactor by the power of ten!
April 19th, 2008 at 3:53 pmOh, I love SpongeBob. There is a quote for almost every life situation in that absurd show. Plankton is just too, too funny.
April 19th, 2008 at 3:54 pmSpongeBob is my favorite cartoon! (And my son’s, too.)
April 19th, 2008 at 3:55 pmSigh. I know. I want to be totally annoyed, and I AM annoyed—but I also think he’s kind of…nice.

April 19th, 2008 at 5:17 pmSpongeBob is a favorite in this house (well, with at least one of us)…
April 19th, 2008 at 5:18 pmI’m in. Why not. Can’t resist a sponge who is best friends with a squirrel.
April 19th, 2008 at 5:31 pmI have resisted the charms of Spongebob, but alas, my son has not.
April 19th, 2008 at 5:33 pmMy kids love him, alas. I’d love to have it.
April 19th, 2008 at 5:46 pmMy husband has made a very rational argument as to why SpongeBob is a good role model, as far as the choices go in the cartoon world:
1. He is gainfully employed
2. He does his very best each day at work.
3. He has a pet he takes care of.
4. He’s friendly to everyone, no matter how dumb or cranky they are.
5. He does his best to have a good attitude each and every day.
Dude’s got a point.
So, anyway, we’d be over the moon to win the DVD! Thanks for the contest.
April 19th, 2008 at 5:48 pmMy son loves Spongebob! I secretly enjoy the show as well, but don’t tell him that!

April 19th, 2008 at 8:09 pmMy kids love Patrick more than I’m comfortable with. I’m a Sandy fan!
April 19th, 2008 at 8:18 pmHe is pretty goofy, ol’ SquareBob Spongepants. (yes, I know, but it makes the grandkids laugh. And he is a square(ish) sponge in pants, so…)
Anyway, the random number generator has not been kind to me (and after all I’ve done for it!) but I’ve always had a special affinity for electric jellyfish. They’re so pretty!

April 19th, 2008 at 9:33 pmI love love love SpongeBob. And I’m glad to hear that other adults do, too. I have some little plastic SpongeBob characters that came out of various fast food kid meals and I keep them on the window ledge in my office. The students in my school (high school) like SpongeBob too, and I get a lot of positive comments from them about my little collection.

Bum, bum, bum….

April 20th, 2008 at 8:40 amI can sing the whole “Wish I was back in Texas” song and I’ve never watched it. That’s what three days in the car with a child who watched it over and over will do. Hey it kept her happy with the move.
April 20th, 2008 at 9:03 amMy daughter loves SBSP! She can quote whole episodes word for word! What does that say about me as a mother? Let’s not go there…I’m just doing the best I can! Just like SB everday at the Krusty Krab!

April 21st, 2008 at 8:37 am
