It’s Thursday — head over to LL Bean

Did you forget to check the LL Bean Thursday Morning Markdown? Today it’s comfort mountain mocs for the kids, just $15. (They are out of my daughter’s—a.k.a. Flipper’s—size, alas!) Use coupon code 3001059 to ship your order for free, and looky there… you’ve just bought sturdy back-to-school shoes at a great price, and now you don’t have to worry about it for the rest of the summer.

Nice work.

You know I love a Liz sale

Right now you can save up to 75% off the original price at Liz Claiborne; just put an already-reduced item into your cart, and it’ll be reduced by an additional 25%.

The sale lasts through July 3rd, 2008, but from my browsing I can see that sizes and colors are already fairly limited, so shop early for the best selection.

(75% off makes the prices just about palatable, no? I mean, I love Liz Claiborne, but really, who’s paying the full prices there?)

Positively porcine play

Have you ever played Pass the Pigs? It’s a fun little game—billed as ages 7+, but my kids played it from about age 4 or 5, I think. Right now it’s down to $6.99 and eligible for free Super Saver Shipping at Amazon.

Would make a great gift for a pig enthusiast. (Okay, that just looks wrong.) Or a games enthusiast. Or as a stocking stuffer. Whatever. Did I mention that you roll pigs instead of dice? Can you really resist that? Because I can’t.

In other news, I am experiencing an inexplicable craving for bacon, suddenly. Huh.

Baby sale (but they’re all out of babies)

Sorry for the slow morning here, folks. I had to take my youngest to the doctor, and I’m still getting used to that “southern hospitality” at doctors’ offices here where your appointment time is more of a recommendation than an actual schedule. But I’m sure that telling us to come for 9:30 and not seeing us until 10:45 totally meant we were getting the very best care possible. Um. Bless their hearts.

Anyway! Now that we’ve escaped we’re home again, I see that they’re having a big Summer sale at BabyCenter right now, which could come in handy if you want some clearance babies. Er, I mean, if you need some baby gear. And if you spend $49+, you can use coupon code FREESHIP49 to—you guessed it—get free shipping.

It’s too bad they’re out of babies, though.

Weigh in?

I don’t own a scale. Scales are depressing! Also, the scale I owned before I moved would vary by as much as 10 pounds at any given time, perhaps because my son once used it as a trampoline. I’m not sure. Anyway, no scale.

But, see, I’m on this little fitness regimen, now, and someone asked me how it’s going, and I had to say “Hmmm… I have no idea” because I don’t own a scale. So I started looking for one.

If you‘re looking for a scale, here’s a couple of deals you might want to check: Right now at Amazon, you can take an additional $10 off Health-o-Meter products with coupon code HEALTH68, so this large dial scale ends up being $19.99 shipped and this digital one ends up being $19.88 shipped. If you want a fancy-schmancy one that also assesses your body fat and hydration (not to mention, looks like a UFO), check out this one here for $31.95 shipped. Or, if you want bargain-basement, this one is just $11.40 (but you’ll need to add other items to your cart to get the free shipping).

Me, I’m still torn. Can’t I just keep trying on the same pants over and over to see how it’s going?

Family game night just got sillier

I’m all about family togetherness, and when that can be achieved with a high level of hilarity, I’m in. My family enjoys a rousing game or twelve of Uno, for example, made all that much more special by my son’s penchant for shrieking “OCHO!” periodically. (Maybe you have to be there. We find it amusing.)

Wiggity Bang games are all about having fun and maybe (shhhhh!) learning a little bit while you’re at it. If that’s not a prescription for a happy family, I don’t know what is. And take a look at what the generous Wiggity Bang folks have donated:

  • Whizizzle Phonics is for ages 4+, and boasts that it is “easier than memorization and more fun than flashcards.” There are two packs for a total of six decks, levels 1-2-3 and 4-5-6. I have two sets of complete Whizizzle Phonics (all six decks) up for grabs.
  • FlapDoodle is a board game for ages 6+ where you’ll “use your creativity and imagination to answer crazy questions and do silly stunts.” I have two FlapDoodle games to give away.
  • Quelf is a “hilariously silly party game” for ages 12+. You have to go read the complete description, because it comes with—among other things—”1 giant invisible harpoon.” I like it already! I have two Quelf games to give away.

Okay. Got that? I have a total of six Wiggity Bang games to give away, two each of the three games described above. To enter for a chance to win, you need to do two things:

  • Leave a comment on this post by 3:00 p.m. Eastern time (that’s noontime, Pacific) on Thursday, June 26th, 2008. Said comment must have a valid email address and you may only enter once.
  • You tell me in your comment which one of the three games you’d like to win.

Entries not left within the specified time limit will be eliminated. Entries that do not specify only one game will be eliminated. Children who leave dirty socks on the floor will be eliminated strongly chastised.

Winners to be determined by random number drawing; I will generate two numbers for the first pair of winners (who will each receive the game of their choosing), and after that we go into single numbers being matched to a prize or eliminated because their chosen prize is already claimed.

Confused yet? Eh, you’ll figure it out. You have two days. Go!

Origins makes your skin (and wallet) happy

Have you ever used any of Origins‘ skin products? I got a few samples a while back, and use them sparingly, lovingly, because my (very sensitive) skin does love their stuff so.

Today (June 24th, 2008) only, order anything at all from Origins and receive three samples absolutely free (White Tea Skin Guardian, Silkening Body Spritz, and Mega-Mushroom Face Cleanser) and free shipping on your entire order. [additional codes removed at company request]

Items start at $10. For what it’s worth, I have never used anything from Origins that I didn’t love. If you’ve been wanting to try them out, today is definitely the day to go for it!

Eat well, save big

The closer we get to the end of the month, the better the coupons for Restaurant.com get. Now’s the time to snap up some certificates!

Through June 30th, 2008, take 60% off your Restaurant.com purchase with coupon code MEALS. But wait, because there’s more! You also get a year’s supply of turtle wax!

Oh, wait. That’s something else. But wait, because you really do get something more—using the code takes 60% off, true, which gets you $25 of dining for just $4, but it also gets you another $10 certificate… which means you’re getting $35 of dining, in all, for just 4 bucks.

It doesn’t get much better than that. I mean, unless someone else is picking up the tab.

Winners of the Elmo DVD contest

274 valid entries later, the contest for Elmo’s latest DVD movie is over. For this one there are five copies up for grabs, which means five times the excitement! Well, for me, anyway. I’m easily entertained.

Without further ado, here are your winners (per the random number generator): Commenters Kristin (55), Shannon (181), Rebecca (48), Mary O (246), and Kate (33)! Congratulations to all, and please look for my email so that I can get your mailing address and send Elmo on out to you.

Many thanks to all who played, and a very special thanks to Bender/Helper Impact for donating the DVDs.

Didn’t win this time? No worries! I have another big box of prizes coming up soon. Maybe even later today. Stay tuned!

There’s nothing better than cheap books

(No, not even cheap shoes!)

Many of you have emailed to let me know that there’s tons of clearance books at Barnes and Noble right now. Oooooh, how I do love a good (cheap) book. I see some of my favorites, there, so don’t worry that this is only the crummy books no one wants. Good stuff to be had.

Remember that if you get up to $25 in your cart they’ll ship for free, and you can also use the following coupon codes:
A8P8N9P — 25% off a single item (new customers only, expires July 2nd)
U4K3E3U — 15% off a single item (expires June 29th)
X4H8W9U — 20% off a single item (BN members only, expires August 5th)
