I have warm clothes on the brain

Oh, wow. Thank you all for running out that giveaway in, like, five minutes. That warmed my heart. And my heart needed warming, because I cannot get over how cold it is here. Brrrrrr! Naturally I have been thinking of nothing but fluffy sweaters and cozy fleeces ever since we arrived. In fact, I’m thrilled that I have to do some work today, because it allows me to sit here with a nice warm computer on my lap. Ahhhhh.

Anyway, of course I was delighted to see that the Lands’ End Winter’s End Savings Event has begun, because it means I can buy all the warm clothes I need, for less!

Just in time for my return to Georgia. Hmmm. (There’s something wrong with this logic, but I’m too chilly to figure out what it is….)

Ending hunger with chocolate

This may be my favorite contest ever. Because it involves a great cause, and we’re going to have one hundred winners.

You read that right. One hundred winners.

Here’s the deal: Ferrero (purveyor of delicious chocolates) has teamed up with Share Our Strength, and together they’ve launched Share Something Sweet to help get the word out about their hunger relief efforts. If you log on there and send someone an e-card, Ferrero (who has already donated $150k to hunger relief) will donate another $1, up to $10,000 as part of this campaign. And if you join the Ferrero Facebook Page, they’ll donate another $1 for that, too.

All of which is, obviously, completely awesome.

And the cherry on top of all of this is that Ferrero is also donating 100 Christmas tree boxes of Ferrero Rondnoir chocolates for giveaway here at Want Not. I’ve set up an online form to take addresses, and if you want a box of chocolate you should go fill it out through this link to get one. (Your information will be used for shipping your prize and then discarded.) The first 100 respondents will receive a free box of chocolate! If I’ve configured it correctly, it will only take 100 responses and then report that it’s full.

There’s some good deals to be had, so long as you’re not in a hurry. (And it’s killing me just a little that I’m on vacation and can’t order anything until we get home….)

There’s still time!

If you—like me—did a free trial of Amazon Prime which ends this week, you may be mourning the loss you’re about to experience. (I know I am. Not enough to pay for Prime, but still. It sure was nice while it lasted.) And I don’t mean to interrupt your preemptive grief, or anything, but you should know that today is the last day to order with Prime and still get your purchases in time for Christmas. (Tomorrow you can order and pay the $3.99 overnight shipping upgrade, but that would be quite a feat of procrastination, there. Just sayin’.)

Today’s Gold Box deal is Photoshop Elements—not exactly the gift that says romance, granted—but the Lightning Deals for today will not only be great deals, but come with free overnight shipping. So it may be worth checking back throughout the day to see if there’s a deal there you need.

A cure for the Friday blues (oranges)

Handy tip from me to you: Don’t put an orange crayon in your dryer. Particularly when you’re in the pre-holiday-trip preparation madness phase and doing laundry late at night. You’re welcome!

I don’t think that the Amazon Friday Sale can give me back the two hours I spent crawling inside the dryer drum and spot-cleaning all my children’s clothes, but at this point, I’ll take what I can get. (Friday Sale, take me away!)

I’m a little bit in love with this Bounty Hunter Educational Archeology Pro Kit. For about the cost of a decent metal detector, you get that and all the accessories your budding archeologist needs to feel like the real thing. Awesome.

It’s a tiny town, for the little ones

Do you know what you need to go with the Rose Petal Cottage you snapped up for a dime or whatever it cost last week when it was so cheap?

The Cherry Blossom Market, of course! It’s down to just $15 (75% off). The coordinating accessories are down to $10.97 (45% off), which I suppose is still a deal, but when the entire market is just fifteen bucks, I’m having trouble getting excited about the fruits and stuff for ten.

Still, that looks like a whole lot of playtime fun for the short people.
