De-stress and make yourself prettier

I am feeling just a wee bit stressed out these days. I want Calgon to take me away, but that’s probably not going to happen. (Possibly because my tub faucet is still sitting in boxes on top of my tub. Woe.)

But maybe you need a little stress-reducing pick-me-up. How about a little bit of spa comfort, right in the comfort of your own home? I have three aromatherapy masques from Montagne Jeunnesse here, and you know they’re fancy because, really, I don’t even know how to pronounce “Montagne Jeunesse.” But the flavors (flavors?) are Chocolate Masque, Self-Heating Fudge Sauna, and an Aromatherapy Masque containing lavender and cinnamon. If nothing else, you’ll probably smell good enough to eat. (Just to clarify: One winner will receive all three.)

Want to win ‘em? First go read the contest rules and regulations, then come back here and leave a comment on this post by 11:59 p.m. Eastern (8:59 p.m. Pacific) on Wednesday, February 35th, 2009 to enter for a chance to win. Seriously, read the rules first. Winner to be determined by random number generation believability of French accent.

Ready? Go!

Keep your pets safe

Hopefully you’ve got a fire escape plan mapped out with your family, and you remember to practice it every once in a while, too. But pets aren’t very good at that whole “stop, drop, and roll” thing… nor can they open the door if they find themselves trapped inside.

ADT is offering free Pet Alert window clings so that rescue workers will know to assist your non-human family members. It’s not an expensive or glamorous freebie—and it’s certainly one I hope you never have to use—but it’s worth having.

Nobody puts Baby on sale. Oh, wait. . .

Hey, someday did put Baby on sale!

Remember back when Jennifer Grey was adorable and Patrick Swayze was incredibly hot, and Dirty Dancing was the most romantic movie ever? Amazon has the 20th Anniversary DVD edition of Dirty Dancing on sale for just $3.99 with free Prime shipping (or free Super Saver Shipping on $25+).

And if that’s not enough for you—though it should be, because it’s a two disc set and allows you to randomly declare “Nobody puts Baby in a corner!” with impunity—there’s more: Buy any qualifying DVD in February, and you’ll get an email telling you how to get a year of Rolling Stone, Us Weekly, or Men’s Health for just a buck.

This’d be worth it just for the magazine subscription, really. But why not get the movie that takes you back?

Get dressed for warmer weather

It won’t be winter forever, you know (regardless of how it might feel, right now…). If you’ve got spring on your mind, you might want to go check out the new arrivals at Old Navy; through February 26th, 2009, you can use coupon code NEW30 to save 30% on all of the new stuff, so you can afford to get something pretty before it goes on clearance.

Don’t forget that adding any pair of shoes from Piperlime to your purchase means your entire order ships for free, too. (What, me enable? I don’t know what you’re talking about.)

Great bargain ahoy

Want a big bundle of fun for your little landlubber? Check out The Scholastic Store’s Pirate Treasure Fundle, a bundle containing an I-SPY book and CD, a constructable pirate card game, and a kit to make your own treasure map.

It’s normally a $30+ value for $20, but now it’s on clearance for just $9.97. Use code FSWINTER for free shipping, and 20% code AFFPD for an additional $2 off. Big pirate fun for under $8—that’s my kind of deal.

[Edited to add: Here's a Riddle Masters Fundle for the same price!]

And on Sunday, there was (news of) free food

So, either I’m losing my mind (entirely possible), or Chik-fil-A is doing a free breakfast entree every day this week. I can’t find it on their website. Indeed, I can’t even find where I saw it before, when I marked it on my calendar, so I’d recommend calling ahead just in case, but I think the little mini chicken biscuits are free tomorrow morning. And then something else each day this week. (How I know I’m truly southern now: The words “chicken biscuit” actually cause me to salivate, whereas once they merely caused me to say, “What, now?”)

Also, Kashi is apparently making frozen entrees. I’m… not entirely sure what they might be, but I do know that you can go get a coupon to try one for free. And that might come in handy if it turns out I totally imagined the free Chik-fil-A thing.

Saturday deals

Goooood morning! Right now I’m sitting in my family room (still in my pajamas), listening to the dulcet tones of my children putting away their laundry. Ahhhhhhh. Life is good.

Shopping today? Let’s see if we can make it worth your while.

Get ready for March Madness with a whole crop of HDTV deals at Buy.com! It’s also acceptable just to use March Madness as your excuse, so that you can then watch Top Chef in HD. I won’t tell anyone.

Shopping at Overstock this weekend? Take $10 off your $250 order by going through that link right there. You’re welcome!

Gearing up for a new arrival? Select gear at Babies ‘R’ Us ships for free when you spend $100+, which is not hard to do when you’re preparing for a baby.

This is the last weekend for winter clearance at Eddie Bauer, with savings of up to 70% off. I think they’re running a special on men’s shirts, too. (Loooove their wrinkle-resistant men’s shirts. I don’t iron.)

Need more men’s stuff? Get an extra 50% off the remaining clearance at Jos. A. Bank this weekend, too.

Shopping at the Kodak Store? Orders of $100+ ship for free with code AFFSHIP8.

The One Day Sale is on at Macy’s. Try to pretend you’re surprised.

And last (but certainly not least), it’s that time again—go visit Restaurant.com and use coupon code DINE to get 80% off your order. That’s $25 worth of fine dining for just $2, so why wouldn’t you treat yourself?

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Get your Friday on

Good morning! We’ve come to the end of another week, and what better way to wrap it up than with some finds at the Amazon Friday Sale? (What’s that you say? Wrapping it up with your very own money tree and a burly man feeding you chocolate while you lounge on silk pillows would be better? Well… hey, if you can get that, great, I guess.)

It’s probably bad that I’d rather have this mixer than a guy feeding me chocolate, right? (But… but… it’s so shiny! And could make so many batches of cookies!)

How about a nice shiny yellow reconditioned Dyson? If only it came with someone to do the vacuuming for you…. (Maybe I could get the guy with the chocolate to do it!)

I love this umbrella photo holder, which is down to $16.49 and eligible for the 4-for-3 promotion. These would be good for Mother’s/Father’s Day, you know. Just sayin’.

Looking for an unusual baby shower gift? These Candela Tooli Lights are perfect for the nursery and beyond—kids love them, and unlike other rechargeable lights, they have a soft glow and no parts little fingers could break off.

Don’t forget to check out the Friday Five; five MP3 albums for just $5 each, plus there’s bonus free song downloads available in the MP3 store, too.

I’d love to spend some more time poking around the Friday Sale, but I have to go sign my life away. Er, go do the paperwork for our refinance. (You did look into refinancing when we talked about a little while back, right?) Why, our new mortgage payment is going to be about three really good pairs of shoes lower than our previous one. Maybe I’ll be able to get that mixer….

Have a great Friday, everyone!

Make your ovaries hurt

Am I the only one who gets that ovary twinge over cute kids’ stuff? It can’t just be me. Especially seeing as how I don’t have any ovaries anymore, and so I must be twinging someone else’s when that happens. (Oh, dear. That sounds dirty.)

Moving on….

Got a cute kid? Maybe he or she needs some cute stuff from the Company Kids Clearance! Looks like they just did more markdowns, and there are several items in there that are making me swoon a little. Ship any order for free with coupon code T9WELCOME, too.

And my deepest apologies if it was your ovaries I was abusing. Really, sorry about that.

Winner of the eenamaria contest

Some of you lamented your lack of affinity for purses, but nearly 500 of you were up for winning a shiny new bag, and I regret that I have only one to give away.

But the random number generator has spoken; it selected commenter number 165, Coral. Congratulations, Coral! Please check your email! (Coral has elected to receive the Murse or Purse bag. Nice choice!)

Many thanks to all who played, and special thanks to eenamaria and their helpers at TheCannonGroup for generously donating the prize. Didn’t win, but still want a hip new eenamaria bag? They’re available at eBags (where there are a couple of coupons running through the end of February), and beginning this weekend, they’ll also be debuting on QVC.

Another chance to win will be here before you know it, so don’t forget to check back!
