I’ve got your ice cream excuse right here

It’s 31 Cent Scoop Night at Baskin-Robbins again! (And thanks to everyone who sent this in. It’s cute how y’all still think I might miss an opportunity for cheap ice cream. As if.) They’re raising money for the National Junior Firefighter Program, and did you miss the part about the cheap ice cream? I mean, sure, good cause and all. But more importantly: cheap ice cream.

Limit of three scoops per person. So don’t be walking in there with a fistful of ones and a cooler, or anything.

This is part of why I married a photographer

When I married my husband I gained 24/7 access to my best friend, a nice guy, and a good cook. I also gained access to more photography equipment than I’d seen in my entire previous life, and it allowed me to move up in my photography dabbling a bit without having to spend any money. As we all know, free is my favorite price.

Nowadays, I still use my little point-and-shoot Canon to tuck in my purse, but when I’m hanging around the house and want to get some shots out in the garden or whatever, I grab my husband’s Nikon D200. It’s a very nice camera. I sort of love it.

This is not the sort of camera you’d buy on a whim; this is a professional body for someone who wants to do serious photography. But if you’re already thinking about it, you might be interested to know that right now, Best Buy is offering $200 off the Nikon D200 10.2MP Digital SLR Camera Body—it’s marked down to $599. It’s actually $850 over at Amazon right now, so this is a tremendous deal if you’ve been in the market for one.

Woohoo, shoes!

More shoes? Why yes. There’s always room for shoes. They’re like dessert!

There’s tons of great deals today at 6pm.com, too many to list, really. The Simple shoes for $14.95 caught my eye, though, because I loooooove me some Simples. As does my daughter, the humane vegetarian who will no longer wear shoes that she thinks had anything to do with animals, ever. Simple makes several “vegan” options that incorporate hemp and recycled tires and probably the hair of peaceful hippies, and they’re just as comfortable as the rest of their shoes, to boot. Definitely check those out if you haven’t seen them before.

And, um, there’s fancy shoes on sale, too. That’s like getting mousse instead of pudding.

Okay, now I’m hungry for some reason….

Today’s a good day for 3-day sales, I guess—through April 30th, 2009, go shop the women’s styles at Dockers and automatically receive 30% off of your order.
