Eddie knows your favorites

Through the end of the month, Eddie Bauer has a huge selection of “summer favorites” marked 25% off (look for the “fun in the sun” banner near the bottom of the entry page), so that you don’t have to wait until the end of the season to get in on the bargains.

I’m not seeing any current coupon codes, unfortunately. And I haven’t quite forgiven them for discontinuing my favorite pants. But it’s something, because I just can’t quit Eddie.

More than shoes

You know how I love to drool over the shoe sales at 6pm.com, but today most of their sales have nothing at all to do with shoes—choose from Smith Optics sunglasses for under $28 or Jansport backpacks for under $15, or check out the Roxy clothing that’s up to 60% off.

Oh, don’t worry; there’s shoes on sale, too. But I feel like 6pm is sucking me into an ever-widening net of dealtasticness, and part of me is scared, and part of me just appreciates the bargains. Is that bad?

Stock up on rechargeables

Okay, so, we all know we’re supposed to be switching over to rechargeable batteries—better for the environment, ultimately better for our wallets, etc. But lousy rechargeable batteries are worse than crummy alkalines; they die quickly and leave you grumbling.

The “best of the best” are supposedly the Sanyo Eneloops, but I’m also hearing good things about Duracell’s version, which is currently on sale at Amazon. A 4-pack of AAAs for under $8 shipped (assuming you have Prime or get enough in your cart for Super Saver Shipping) is what you’d pay for disposables, only these will last a whole lot longer.

(If you need AAs, they’re at $11, still, which is not a bad price, just not quite as great as the AAAs.)

Don’t forget the sunscreen!

Summer’s a-coming (or has arrived, depending on where in the country you live), and nothing says summer like a mother bellowing, “Stop! Sunscreen!!”

Oh, does that only happen at my house…?

If you’re a fan of Coppertone, you can go to their site and click on the lower left, there, to print out a $3 coupon good on any one of their sun protection products. It’s a great way to save a few bucks on something you were going to buy, anyway.

(Thanks, Stephanie!)

Enjoy Life, gluten-free

I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this whole gluten-free thing I’m doing? Like, maybe three or four hundred times, I’ve mentioned it? Needless to say, I’m experiencing a bit of… growing pains with it. (And by “growing pains” I mean “insatiable craving for homemade wheat bread.”)

Anyway, I was cruising around Amazon looking for some gluten-free deals. It turns out that through the end of May, you can save big on select Enjoy Life products—all of which are gluten-free. Just pick your product (all of which are already marked down), then apply coupon code ENJOYLIF to save another 20%.

That’s just $15.50 for 6 boxes of cereal bars, for example. They also have gluten-free baking mixes and a gluten-free, nut-free granola.

But they don’t have any gluten-free wheat bread. Go figure.

Fancy pants

Is your man a fancy-pants? Or does he just need some nicer clothing for an upcoming work even or wedding? Check out the 50% off sale at Jos. A. Bank; they’ve got everything on sale to make your man super-fancy. Or just sort of fancy.

It’s the summer stuff that’s on sale, too, not just the winter leftovers. Shipping is always free on orders of $175+, which isn’t hard to hit if you’re buying a suit and associated accessories.

Go on, guys. There’s nothing quite like a man in a tie.

Big sale, big codes

Did you know that the Big Sale at Lillian Vernon is still going on? (Maybe it’s the big sale because it lasts for about a month…?) There’s new coupon codes, too, to help you maximize the savings.

Use code 758021800 to get 10% off $65+, 15% off $85+ or 20% off $125+; or use code 569840900 for $10 off $55+.

The codes (and the Big Sale) cover all of that adorable personalized stuff at Lilly’s Kids, too, which means you could be a hero and get a jump on back-to-school or birthday presents or whatever. (Surely I cannot be the only person who delighted in receiving a bundle of pencils every fall with—squeeeee!—my name on them….)

If you need your tunes

I guess it’s no secret that I’m an Apple fan (gee, you think?), but just because I’m a fan of their products doesn’t mean that you always have to buy them from the Apple Store. (Sorry, Apple.) If you’re in the market for an iPod, for example, you might be interested to know that all iPods are on sale at Best Buy this week. I’m just mentioning it.

Though how I ever got through a long plane ride without a pocket full of “Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me”s, I cannot imagine. My iPod has changed my life. (Well, it’s changed my plane trips, anyway!)

Pop it up

Hey, remember back when we had a contest to win a Kernel Season’s gift pack? The nice folks from Kernel Season’s have offered to do it again, only this time we’re going to have three winners!

Three lucky Want Not readers are going to receive a bag of their premium stovetop popping kernels, three bags of microwave popcorn, a can of popcorn spritzer, and six different seasoning flavors. That’s enough popcorn to last you for quite a while, I think.

Want to be one of the lucky winners? First go read the contest rules and regulations, then come back here and leave a comment on this post by 11:59 p.m. Eastern (8:59 p.m. Pacific) on Wednesday, May 27th, 2009 to be entered. Winners to be determined by random number generation and satisfying crunch. (Get it? Popcorn? Crunch? Crunchy popcorn? Oh, nevermind.)

Go!

The gift that keeps on giving

Happy Memorial Day! I hope that today you are honoring those who have served our country, and also that you are charring foodstuffs on a grill and drinking something with an umbrella in it.

Should you be looking for some Friday Sale-esque savings, of course Amazon is having a Memorial Day Sale, and you know I’m poking through it right now looking for a better deal on that coffin….

My favorite mixer is down to $310 shipped, and comes with a free ice cream maker attachment, too. Mmmmm… bread and ice cream.

I can’t help it—I love this dessert set, cheesy though it may be. (It also doesn’t say if they’re glass or plastic, which is a little disturbing.)

Oh, thank goodness! I’ve been searching and searching for a pistachio desk chair! (No I haven’t. This isn’t as good as a coffin, but it’s close.)

This is the lowest I’ve seen these camp chairs go so far this season. I sort of love them.

Four little words: Perfect Father’s Day gift. You’re welcome!

I never understood what the big deal was with these anti-gravity recliners until we got a couple for the porch. Now I love them in a way that may not be normal.

I just love a good holiday.
