Because lunch is the most important class

Any kid about to head back to school can tell you that it’s all about lunch… or maybe that’s just my kids. Ahem. Regardless, shopping for a new lunch bag or the perfect container to house lukewarm mac-n-cheese is just as important as picking out which notebooks and pencils they’ll use this year.

Right now at eToys, they’re ready to help you out. Choose from their Thermos Funtainers or their Thermos lunch kits, and you’ll automatically save 25% and get free shipping.

There appears to be a limit of 3 qualifying items per order, but with the free shipping, I don’t see why you couldn’t just place additional (separate) orders.

It’s the stuff they want, at the prices you can stand, and no fighting with the thundering hordes at Target for the last Hannah Montana lunchbox. Thank goodness.

Hooray for Back 2 Shoes!

Ahhhhhh, home. My own bed. My own food. My own family.

My own unquenchable desire for shoes. (Ahem.)

For one day only—today, July 26th, 2009—you can use coupon code B2S2009 at Shoebuy.com for 20% off your purchase. Shipping and returns are always free, of course.

I may need to celebrate my return with a new pair of kicks. It just seems appropriate.

Winner of the EcoSMART contest

Up is down, left is right, I totally forgot to post any Saturday deals, and I’m currently sitting in an airport wishing I was already home.

But we’re going to have the winner of this week’s contest, darn it. Because I said so.

So, over 300 of you wanted to repel bugs in a greener way, and thus the battle for an EcoSMART Value Bundle was waged. The random number generator likes commenter 105, NTE. Congratulations, NTE! Please check your email!

Big thanks to all who played, and special thanks to EcoSMART for their generosity in donating the prize.

Didn’t win this time? Do not fret! Although I ran into the lovely Liza at BlogHer and gave her my copy of The Penny Pincher’s Club, I picked up plenty of fabulous swag, some of which I’ll be giving away here in the coming weeks.

Also, after I get home and get some sleep, we will return to our regularly scheduled dealiciousness.

It’s Friday, right?

Oh, hey! Sorry about yesterday. I meant to come back—really, I did—but then this conference swallowed me whole. The next thing I knew, it was midnight and I was drooling on my pillow, surrounded by business cards. (Wait. That sounds a lot more lascivious than it actually was.)

Anyway. Not even tote bags of swag can keep me away from the Amazon Friday Sale. Obviously.

Huh. This is kind of cool—it’s a set of three outlets that can all be controlled by one remote. I’m not entirely sure why I would want such a thing, but if I did, $19 seems like about the right price for it.

I’ve heard great things about these Lock & Lock containers, and this set is both marked down and part of the 4-for-3 promotion.

Wasn’t someone looking for cookware that wasn’t nonstick last week? There you go, and it’s only $109 for the entire set.

It’s a Magic Bullet! Except it’s a different brand. But it gets great reviews.

I’m sorry, but now I have to go find some coffee. I think it’s across the room from me, but requires getting out of bed. Woe is me. (I know, it’s a tough life.)

Sit tight on the contest results; I will get to them today or tomorrow, pinky swear.

Some dailies from the Windy City

I’m not sure how much deal-scoping I’ll have time to do today, but I will come back later with our contest winner and possibly some more finds.

In the meantime, we’ll always have the dailies, sweetheart….

Amazon’s Gold Box Deal today is discounts on a variety of children’s name-brand clothing. No, it’s not going to be dirt cheap, but if you have a kid who simply “must” have that one special hoodie or pair of jeans or whatever, this may be a good way to pick it up.

Today 6pm.com has Oakley sunglasses for just $40, Diesel clothing over half off, and Reef sandals for under $35. That’s all in addition to the weekly deals that are still running.

And today’s daily deals at Target include a stock pot, cute purse, and some gladiator sandals. Because it’s important to have the right accessories when you make soup.

Stay out of trouble today while I’m wandering around trying to figure out where I’m supposed to be, mmkay?

Reminders of contest goodness

Reminder the first: You have until just before midnight tonight to enter the contest to win an EcoSMART bundle, so don’t forget to get your entry in.

Reminder the second: The second round of the GoodNites contest is still going on, and you can enter every single day, so don’t forget to get your daily entry! The swag bag is worth $250, and our first winner has already raved that it’s a fabulous prize, so what are you waiting for?

And this is not technically a reminder, because I decided it just now: Never let it be said that I don’t offer lots of ways to win. I will be at BlogHer in Chicago this week and I would love to meet you! Please come say hello! The first Want Not reader who comes up to me and says, “Mir, please pinch me!” will receive a copy of Sarah Strohmeyer’s new novel, The Penny Pinchers Club. (I will be carrying it in my purse. If you’re the first, I will whip it out and hand it to you. If you’re not the first, I’ll probably just pinch you.) Please come say hello even if you don’t want a book; I’d love to meet you.

Flippity do dah

If you’ve been biding your time, waiting for the right deal to come along on a Flip camcorder, today may just be your day.

The current promotion at Amazon allows you to choose your Flip model and then receive a qualifying accessory for free. But for some reason, the promotion has a glitch—instead of deducting the price of the accessory in your cart, it’s deducting the price of the accessory twice.

And for some reason, this Case Logic case is currently (over)priced at $52.09.

Pick your Flip. Add the case. Get the case for free, and another $52 off your Flip.

(They’re sure to figure this out and fix it pretty quickly, so move fast if you want the deal.)

[Edited Thursday morning to add: Looks like orders are now being canceled. Congrats to those of you whose orders shipped before they caught it!]

The cheap just got cheaper

It’s always a budget-savvy idea to shop for music, movies, and games at Second Spin, because why pay full price when you can get it good-as-new for less?

When they have a coupon, it’s just the icing on the cake. So shop today and tomorrow (July 22 and 23), and use coupon code 25ALLUSED for 25% off everything.

Unless you’d rather pay full price, that is. (In which case, I think you may be lost. Move along.)

Awwww, yeah

It’s a beautiful day for a Woot-Off, isn’t it? Clear with a chance of insane deals, I’d say.

Time to stock up on snacks

Back-to-school will be here before you know it, and that means we’re just weeks—possibly days!—away from children standing in front of the pantry and moaning, “There’s nothing to eeeeeeeeat!”

Feel the love.

Amazon’s offering an awesome deal, though; it’s a true stock-and-save event. Right now there’s a slew of eligible foods where buying 2 saves you 20%, buying 3 saves you 30%, or buying 5 gets you a whopping 40% off! Just use coupon code BCKSCLO9 to reap the savings at checkout. And you can mix and match, so there’s no need to buy five of the same item (unless you want to, of course).

It claims the code cannot be combined with Subscribe and Save, but I haven’t checked it. If you were buying 5 of the same thing, it might be worth testing that. But even if it’s true, 40% off on something like Horizon Organic Milk Boxes brings the price down to $.66/carton. I’m just saying.

I will now go buy more than I think I should, and be amazed when it’s all gone by the first week of school.
