Reminder: Yummie Tummie contest

Goodness, is it Wednesday already? How did that happen?? Well, no matter; just keep in mind that you only have until just before midnight tonight to enter to win a $100 Yummie Tummie gift certificate! If you haven’t gotten your entry in, get moving. Time stops for no one, apparently.

And please remember to enter on the contest post, not this one. This one is reserved for… ummm… dog stories. I’ll start: My dog just ate an entire pear core, the big weirdo. Your turn!

It’s a great day for jeans, girls

Does your favorite girl need jeans? (I mean, I don’t know about yours, but piling bricks on the head of mine has been completely ineffectual, and she outgrew all her pants over the summer, anyway.) Today (September 30th, 2009) only, Justice is offering buy 1, get 1 free on select jeans.

And the best part is that you can still use code 818 for 40% off, too, so the jeans come out to about $9 each, or around $12 each with shipping.

Go ahead—be a hero and don’t tell her they were on sale. I won’t tell.

P.S. Um, who bought all the size 12 slim skinny jeans? Sheesh.

Th-th-th-that’s cheap, folks

Maybe it’s the kid in me (okay, fine; it’s definitely the kid in me), but I’m totally jazzed over today’s Deal of the Day at Barnes & Noble. It’s the Looney Tunes Golden Collection (volume 1) for $32.49, though I’d argue you can’t put a price on the nostalgia for those Saturday mornings spent laying on your stomach in front of the television, eating sugar cereal and watching cartoon characters drop anvils on each other.

The current price at Amazon is $50, so I’d say this is a bargain, indeed.

Charge me up

I wasn’t able to find a review of this one, although for $30 shipped I might not care; today Buy.com has a Sound and Charge Speaker Valet available that would be utterly perfect for that special geek in your life.

What’s not to like about a speaker stand for your iPod where you can also charge up to five devices at once?

This may actually be a little too exciting for my husband, He Of Many Gadgets. Perhaps I should wait for a very special occasion, like our anniversary or something.

(P.S. Buy lists the original price as $60, but it seems to be selling for $130 at the Sound and Charge store. Maybe that one is filled with cocaine?)

Can you see me now?

A company I recently fell in love with, Snapily, is giving you the chance to make a free greeting card with them to see for yourself how cool they are. Snapily allows you to make 3D picture-changing items like we thought were so awesome back in the day, when you’d sit there tilting your book back and forth and running your fingers over the ridged plastic and wondering how did they do that.

Anyway, it used to be a promo in connection with Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, but even though that’s ended, you can still go make a free holiday card. So pick your pictures and go get ready to be wowed.

Perfect for your pampered pooch

Okay; I know the last time I posted a deal for Pet Food Direct many of you scoffed and sneered and said their prices weren’t very good. Now that I have a dog of my own (have I mentioned that? I mean, today?) I’ve checked them out a little bit more, and here’s what I found:

1) Their prices on premium foods are pretty competitive. True, the mark-up on the low- and mid-grade foods is large. But if you’re buying a 6-star dog food, for example, the prices are good.

2) Shipping often kills the deal.

But fear not! Through tomorrow (September 30th, 2009), shop Pet Food Direct and use coupon code PET3683 for free shipping! That’s particularly handy if you’re buying expensive food, or just nice if you want to pick up a toy or a package of treats that’s on sale, too.

What are you going to do now?

After you spend some of your time volunteering to help others, what will you do next? Maybe you should go to Disney, on them, of course.

I think this is a nice little promotion. It’s not going to pay for your entire vacation, but kudos to Disney for trying to promote volunteerism!

I know her secret

Today (September 29th, 2009) only, Victoria’s Secret is offering free shipping on any order—just use coupon code FREESHIP.

I’m not a big fan of their stuff, but maybe you are. And why pay shipping if you don’t have to?

[Her secret is plastic surgery, by the way. Obviously.]

Impeccable taste, sir

So I’m browsing through the Buy.com deal alerts, and I come across this Swiss Legend Legato watch and think to myself, “Self, that is a very nice looking watch for a man.” But it’s $155 on sale, and I’m wondering if that’s a reasonable price for that watch. Because I’m a cheapskate, you know, and $155 for a watch seems a little steep to me.

So then I clicked on over to Amazon to compare, and what do you know—it’s $600 there.

Not a bad discount on a self-winding watch, I suppose.

Because Fall means boots

Summer is officially over, which means that despite the continuing heat and humidity here in the south, it’s officially time to start swooning over boots. (What? Didn’t you get the memo?) I may have to wait a few more months before I can actually wear them, but whatever. Details.

Today at 6pm.com they’ve got three pages of select Sudini styles marked 70% off, including a wide array of gorgeous boots just right for celebrating Fall. And if you don’t live down this way, you may even get to wear them soonish.
