Winner of the Ecostore USA contest

Good morning! Are you feeling clean and green? No? (I’m sure I would be if I had a maid, but I’m discovering that no matter how eco-friendly my cleaning products, my house still refuses to clean itself, the ungrateful thing. Hmph.)

We had a great response to the contest to win a gift card to Ecostore USA, and I regret that I can award just one reader with the prize. But the random number generator has spoken, and our winner is: Commenter 15, Amy. Congratulations, Amy—please check your email!

Big thanks to all who played, and special thanks to Ecostore USA for the generous prize donation. For those of you wanting to go check out their products, the Buy 1, Get 1 Free on orders of $50+ special is still going on, so it’s a great time to stock up.

Didn’t win this time? Don’t be blue! (Especially when you’re trying to go green. You’ll just end up… ummm… teal?) More contests are always coming up, with more fabulous opportunities to win goodies!

It just sounds fancy

Do you know what a Package Shark is? I didn’t, but it certainly does sound cool. I immediately had visions of dropping a box into the bathtub and having a shark rip it to shreds for me, rather than me having to fight with the packing tape.

Anyway, a real Package Shark is the Graveyard Mall Deal of the Day, and it’s a little doohickey that slices right through the tape on your boxes, or that horrible plastic casing everything seems to come in these days. Pretty snazzy. And while I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s worth $3.49, itself, you also get a pair of power scissors with it—another item that I’ve always sort of wanted but never really knew if it was worth it.

Better still, buy two and use coupon code sharkship and they’ll ship it all for free! That’s two pairs of power scissors, plus two Package Sharks, for just under $7 to your door. I’m thinking power scissors might make a good teacher gift…?

We’re all friends, and quasi-family

One thing I love about the idea of “there’s all kinds of families” is that we seem much freer, these days, to dub folks we care about as members of our family. And I like that because it makes me feel warm and fuzzy, but I particularly like that because when the Friends & Family sales roll around, we’re all family! Let’s all catch the savings!

(Sometimes it really doesn’t take much to make me happy….)

Through September 27th, 2009, join the family at Footlocker and save 30% on your purchase; just use coupon code IPFLFF99 at checkout. It works on stuff already on sale, even, so you know they’re playing my song.

Welcome to the family! Now go do the dishes, would you? I’m not running a hotel here, people.

Reminder: EcoStore USA contest

Don’t forget—you have until just before midnight tonight to enter to win an EcoStore USA gift card worth $25 towards the green cleaning and hygiene products of your choice.

You wouldn’t want to forget to enter and then forever wonder if you might’ve been the lucky recipient, do you?

As always, please enter on the contest post. Leaving a comment on this post is sort of like feeding mogwais after midnight. (If you are too young to get that reference, kindly get off my lawn.)

I see what they did there

I always chuckle when a big sale on health and beauty items is called a “beauty blowout.” Get it? Like when you get your hair blown out…?

Okay, maybe it’s just me.

Nonetheless, the annual Beauty Blowout at Drugstore.com (hee!) has just a couple of days left, and it just might be your ticket to big savings on products you were going to buy, anyway. Not that you need them—you’re plenty pretty, already.

Make money on your meds

Did you know that most pharmacies offer some sort of incentive to transfer your prescription to them from another store? They do! This is not my favorite way to make money, because I happen to like the pharmacy I use (and like that they know my family, etc.), but if you were planning to switch anyway or didn’t really care, it’s easy cash.

Make up to $50 at Rite Aid with a printable coupon (click the “get coupons now” link on that page). Most other pharmacies put coupons in the Sunday paper insert, but here’s another tip: Most of them will match a competitor’s coupon, too. Try printing the Rite Aid coupon and taking it the pharmacy of your choice and asking if they’ll match it—they probably will.

Ship it to me (free)

Today and tomorrow (September 23rd and 24th), get free shipping at Eddie Bauer with coupon code FREESEPT. There’s still that weird $3 handling fee they’re so fond of, but at least the shipping fee itself will zero out.

While I’m a fan of EB’s clothes, I’m a fool for their gadgets section. I mean, who doesn’t need a flashlight with a built-in world clock? Okay, maybe that’s a poor example. Check out those head lamps that are $10 with any purchase. As far as my kids are concerned, that’s pretty much the reason to go camping, right there, so that you’ll have an excuse to wear your head lamp.

(Hey, I never said we were normal.)

Smells like Teen Favorite

How much would your favorite tween or teen love today’s Amazon Gold Box deal? Let me give you a hint: So, so much. They’re offering up the Polaroid Pogo Mobile printer for just $30 shipped (it’s $50 plus shipping at Target), and it plugs into your camera or mobile phone and prints out little 2″ x 3″ pictures in under a minute. Absolutely perfect for the instant-gratification generation, and easy on your wallet.

There’s no ink required, and the paper isn’t too bad—$20 for an 80-pack. (I’m guessing as the Pogos become more popular, it’ll be easy to find it even cheaper, too.)

If I got this for my daughter, she would lose. her. mind. I’ll need a few hours to decide if I’m that nice. I might not be.

Yeah? Well, Woot Off!

No, I’m not cursing at you—I’m just letting you know that today would be a great day to spend some quality time refreshing your browser and getting an eyeful of a variety of bargains at today’s Woot Off.

For the uninitiated: Woot usually does one deal every day, but during Woot Offs it’s a rapid-fire succession of items that last only until they sell out or (I think) fifteen minutes, whichever comes first. It’s a marvelous way to lose an entire day to the pursuit of the almighty deal.

Not to mention that I’m still hoping to write for Woot someday when I grow up.

Your weekly dose of Kohls

I was just browsing over at Kohls, sucked in by the siren song of cheap prices and a large variety of items. I’m so predictable.

They’re in the middle of both an “anniversary sale” (it’s the anniversary of when they have a sale, I’m sure) and also their free shipping on $75+ promotion.

But if you have a Kohls card, you can do even better! Use coupon code thisis4free for free shipping on any size order, plus code FALL15 for another 15% off. No Kohls card? Use NEW2757 for an additional 10% off your order, anyway.

And, uh, I’m not shopping. I was just looking. For you. Because I care.
