I’m not hip enough for this

Got a cool kid? Or maybe you’re a cool kid?

I’m sort of a Lego Rock Band level of cool (read: Not Cool), and of course that’s barely on sale. But if I were cool, I would totally scoop up this DJ Hero Bundle for $85. If I were to buy that now, though, I’d probably just play with the turntable until my children—embarrassed and horrified, no doubt—begged me to stop.

It’s not easy being nerdy.

Zoom away, Hess style

Look; you show me a kid who isn’t delighted by the annual Hess Toy Truck offering and I’ll show you a child who is quite possibly in a coma. Even my daughter—who is as girly-girl as they come—can never resist playing with the lights and engaging in races between the little pull-back vehicles with her brother. They’re just plain fun. And if you build up a fleet of them over the years, you can have all-Hess tournaments. (Go ahead, ask me how I know this. Except give me a minute, because I have last year’s motorcycle jammed in my toes….)

This year’s Hess Truck isn’t a truck at all; it’s a giant race car with a smaller race car under the hood. Observe:

(Why, I can almost hear my husband and my son fighting over it even now.)

I just happen to have the 2009 Hess race car combo here, and one lucky Want Not reader is going to win it from me! Give it to your kid, give it to your husband; heck, keep it for yourself. I don’t judge.

Want to win it? First go review the contest rules and regulations, then come on back here and leave a comment on this post by 11:59 p.m. Eastern (that’s 8:59 p.m. Pacific) on Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009 to be entered. Winner to be determined by random number generation and fuel efficiency.

Ready? Go!

Go ahead and scribble

I know this was a Lightning Deal over the weekend (I missed it! Argh!), but right now Amazon has Scribblenauts for the DS for $19—not quite as cheap as it was before, but you don’t have to race the clock, either.

I’ve heard great things about this one being a fun game where the kids actually have to think. What a concept!

If only I had a guitar

A fresh batch of Lightning Deals just went live in the Amazon Cyber Monday section, and it includes the standalone Guitar Hero 5 software for just $30.

I’ve gotta get me a guitar, man.

A-ordering I will go

I can’t resist a deal at Crazy 8, one of my new favorite places to pick up clothes for the kiddos. Today only, they’re offering 20% off and free shipping on all orders! (Markdowns are already taken, and free shipping is automatic.)

If you prefer The Children’s Place, they’re offering free shipping on all orders today with coupon code FSCM9, and their $5, $6, $7, $8 sale is still going on.

What can I say? I’m a sucker for kids’ clothes deals. Plus I love to see the looks on their faces when they unwrap socks on Christmas morning. (Okay, I may be just a little evil.)

Better than my local drugstore

So I’m thinking to myself, “Self, what sorts of Cyber Monday deals could they possibly have at drugstore.com that would be worth it? Am I going to gift folks with hair color and antacids?”

But then I went and looked and was appropriately chided for my closed-mindedness. Turns out that they have GPS units and ripsticks and all sorts of things, at great prices for today only.

And I’m not just saying that because they have two different kinds of marshmallow shooters, either.

Cyber Monday at Disney

This is a particularly good one if you’re planning a Disney trip in the next year—why pay outrageous park prices for souvenirs when you could buy ahead and save?

Today only, shop DisneyStore.com and save up to 25% with code CYBERMONDAY (that’ll give you 10% off $59+, 15% off $79+, 20% off $99+, or 25% off $149+). You can stack that with code SHIP89 for free shipping on $89+, too.

There’s plenty already on sale, so this would be a great time to stack up the savings. (Also, if you are planning a Disney trip… take me with you?)

Monday Monday Monday

I don’t think today’s going to be quite as crazy as Friday was, with all the deals, but hope springs eternal. Here’s a few Cyber Monday deals to get you started:

Take 20% off and get free shipping at Old Navy and the entire brand family (that includes Gap, Banana Republic, Athleta, and Piperlime) all day today with coupon code MONDAY.

In addition to their assortment of Cyber Monday deals (lightning deals all day long—hope you weren’t planning to actually work, today), the Amazon Gold Box has a deal on an iPod Touch today. (Just $158 for the previous generation.)

There’s site-wide free shipping to go with your Cyber Monday deals at Overstock, just in case something catches your eye over there.

There’s plenty of toy deals over at eToys and Toys ‘R’ Us, and shipping is free on your $49+ order at both sites.

Grab your Restaurant.com certificates today—coupon code SAVE will take 80% off, netting you $25 worth of dining for just $2 a pop.

And it’s not active yet (then again, it’s currently o’dark thirty), but 6pm.com has digital camera and frames going to 75% off at 9:00 a.m. Eastern—shop now and put stuff in your cart, because you know it’s going to go fast once the price drops. (Don’t forget to check their 36 Days of Joy deal later, too!)

And now for my favorite morning deal—more coffee….

Why wait until tomorrow?

Cyber Monday deals at Amazon are already live.

Guess I know what I’m doing today….

Be a Band Hero

Personally, I think that video where we’re supposed to believe Taylor Swift is unattractive because she’s wearing glasses with lenses the size of dinner plates is pretty absurd, but nevertheless, Band Hero for the Wii seems to be a hot item this season. Because the kids like Taylor Swift. And because they won’t stay off my lawn. Or something.

Right now Amazon has the Band Hero Super Bundle for $150 shipped and the Band Hero standalone software for $49. That beats any of the Black Friday prices I saw, actually, so a great deal if you’ve been looking for these.

Taylor Swift’s ugly-girl glasses sold separately.
