If Santa brought you a Wii

I kept an eye on this one for about a month prior to Christmas, and then decided that my kids would just have to wait for it to go on sale. Well, of course now it has—Super Mario Brothers for the Wii is down to $40 at Amazon, which is still nothing to sneeze at, but it’s better than the $50 it costs everywhere else. So.

I may need to master Dance, Dance Revolution before I buy a new game, though. Er, I mean, my kids may need to. Ahem.

Consider the larch

I know this makes me old (and possibly weird) but I do not care; very little makes me so happy as when the Amazon Gold Box deal is the complete Monty Python Flying Circus set. It claims to be the “16 Ton Megaset” but the shipping weight is considerably less than that, so, you know. Probably just another little joke.

And if you don’t understand the title of this post you’re probably not interested. But for the rest of us… all 45 episodes plus bonuses for $35 shipped? It’s enough to make me walk silly.

The necessary gear

Are you one of those people sworn to get fit in the new year? C’mon, you can tell me. I know I am; every December while I’m busy stuffing my face I hatch a plan to become healthy in the new year, and it usually involves exercise, and I hate exercise. So I try to think of some ways to make it less onerous, and I always arrive at the same conclusion: I need cute workout clothes.

Oh, like you don’t do that….

If you find yourself in a similar place, you might want to take a little browse over at Athleta today; there’s a slew of sale items, and you can take another 20% off their reduced prices with coupon code MINUS20. But hurry—the sale’s only on today and tomorrow (through December 30th, 2009).

For your little builder/scientist

I have to tell you, the runaway hit of Christmas morning here was the Eitech building set we gave my son, for which I paid more than I probably should’ve, but I knew he’d love it.

So I’m only a little bitter that it’s currently a Lightning Deal at Amazon for just $40, which is about half what I paid for it.

Just a little. No, I’m not crying. There’s something in my eye….

Hooray for post-holiday sales

I know, everyone’s having those sales, but when I see a dozen pages of sale items at Old Navy, my heart goes pitter-pat. I can’t help it.

Maybe you (or the kids) got gift cards for the holiday. Now would be a good time to shop, is all I’m saying.

Because you’re tired of turkey (or ham)

Don’t get me wrong; I love having holiday leftovers. But the time comes when one cannot help but say, “Dear lord, I cannot eat another bite of .” Am I right?

Of course, who wants to cook again after that big meal, and who has the money for take-out. Why not pick up a frozen pizza? Say, on me?

I have some coupons here for Red Baron’s Fire Baked pizzas*. Each coupon entitles the bearer to one free pizza. Hooray! We’ll have three winners today: The first winner will get three pizza coupons, the second will get two, and the third will get one.

Want to win? First go review the contest rules and regulations, then come on back here and leave a comment on this post by 11:59 p.m. Eastern (that’s 8:59 p.m. Pacific) on Wednesday, December 30th, 2009 to be entered. Winners to be determined by random number generation and crispness of crust.

Ready? Go!

* I received eight coupons in the mail for this promotion and have been encouraged to let you know that they contacted me and offered the coupons for “me and my community.” I am saving two coupons for my family, as my rotten children sometimes enjoy frozen pizza and I am far too mean to buy it for them with any regularity. The other six coupons are going out to you, because you’re pretty.

Shoes, glorious shoes

Far be it from me to let perhaps the most giftastic holiday of the year impede my pursuit of the perfect cheap pair of shoes in any way. I mean, what are the odds that someone gave you a great pair of shoes? You still probably need to buy them yourself. So allow me to assist you with a few excellent options….

This is the last week of the current buy 1 pair, get the 2nd at half price promotion at Famous Footwear, so it’s a good time to take a look if you need multiple pairs. Shipping is free when you buy three or more pairs, and you can use coupon code HOLIDAY to save $20 on your $100+ order.

Shoes.com offers free shipping on every order, and on non-sale items save 15% with coupon code SNOW, while already reduced sale items are an additional 20% off with coupon code WINTER.

Amazon’s got a ton of designer shoes and athletic shoes on big sale right now.

Did you know that 6pm.com is still doing their 36 Days of Joy thing? That’s one extra-deep discount each day, and today it’s on J. Renee evening bags, just in case you need a little special something for a night on the town. There’s the usual suspects for markdowns this week, too, including the return of the $15 Heelys, and discounts on Reeboks and Nike just in time for those New Year’s resolutions to get fit.

The big winter sale is on at Endless, and they have free overnight shipping in case you need it in a hurry.

Today Shoebuy.com is offering 20% off and free shipping with coupon code SALE (some restrictions apply), too.

If you can’t find a single pair of shoes you need given all of those options, well, it’s like I don’t even know you anymore.

One last verse for 2009

Sure, it’ll continue into 2010 and beyond, but allow me this moment of misplaced nostalgia for the very last Restaurant.com deal of the year.

Ahhh. Okay, thanks. I’m over it.

Nonetheless, you have through the end of the year to pick up your dining certificates at 80% off—that’s $25 of eating out for just $2 out of pocket—using coupon code CHEER. Even better, they’ll give you a bonus $10 certificate with every purchase, so really it’s $35 worth for just $2.

But hey, if you don’t want $33 worth of free food, nevermind.

Post-holiday GPS deals

Maybe Santa brought you a little cash. Why not; I’m sure you were very good this year, after all. And maybe all you really wanted for Christmas this year was your two front teeth a GPS unit for your car. Here’s two great options if you’re still deciding:

The TomTom XL 330-S is currently $95 shipped at Amazon, which is about $80 cheaper than I see it anywhere else. It has text-to-speech and just about all of the bells and whistles you might want. Unless…

… you want one that also has live traffic updates, in which case you can snag yourself a top-of-the-line Garmin Nuvi 285W for $135, instead (thanks, Chak!). This one has everything the TomTom has, plus live traffic updates. (Do bear in mind that those traffic updates are only available in metropolitan areas, of course.)

These are both great units, but if you get the traffic enabled one be sure to let me know so that I can properly exercise my jealousy.

Winners of the latest contest

Okay, I have learned something this week: I should not hold contests over the holidays. I’ve been remiss in announcing this one, but it really wasn’t my fault, see, because there were leftovers to pick at and DVDs to watch and such. You understand. At least, I hope you do. Nonetheless, I apologize for the delay.

So! Last week’s contest was a chance to win either DJ Hero or Guitar Hero 5 for the Wii, and y’all get pretty excited about Wii games, I have to tell you. But I have only two prizes to give and the random number generator is fickle.

Our winners are: Anissa (commenter 147) will be receiving DJ Hero, and Lori (commenter 251) takes Guitar Hero 5. Congratulations, winners—please check your email!

Big thanks to all who played, and thanks once again to the generous folks at Guitar Hero and their helper elves at BNC for hooking us up with the prizes. (I want it noted for the record that we don’t own a single Guitar Hero game. Not one. That’s how much I love you, that I got all this stuff in the mail and I gave it away when I am sadly rock-out-less myself. Heh.)

I promise that a normal posting schedule will resume soonish, just as soon as I regain the will to get up off the couch….
