Be a Bombshell, baby

Every time I do a contest for a Jawbone headset, it’s wildly popular. And why not? Jawbone’s Noise Assassin technology makes them the most technologically advanced headsets you can buy, with the clearest sound no matter where you are. I’ve given away the Jawbone II headset, and then I gave away one of the newer ones in rose gold (pink!), and now I’m delighted to have the chance to introduce you to the Jawbone ICON—a whole new line of Jawbones designed to look as good as they work.

See that one pictured here? That’s the Bombshell. I have one sitting on my desk and it’s going out to one lucky Want Not reader at the conclusion of this contest. Once you have your Jawbone, you can also check out Jott, a way to turn your Bluetooth into a personal assistant. Get one week for free, and 25% off as a Jawbone user if you decide to sign up.

But right now let’s talk about who’s winning this Bombshell, shall we? To enter this contest, first go review the contest rules and regulations, then come on back here and leave a comment on this post by 11:59 p.m. Eastern (that’s 8:59 p.m. Pacific) on Wednesday, February 24th, 2010. One winner will be selected at random, utilizing the random number generator and a Ouija board. Except I don’t have a Ouija board, so I guess really just the random number generator.

Ready to rock the Bombshell? Go!

Eat it up

It’s that time again—time for 80% off at Restaurant.com, so that eating out is affordable even on the tightest budget. Through the end of February, use coupon code SAVOR to save 80%, making those $25 dining certificates a cool $2.

Do be sure to read the fine print—each restaurant has their own rules, and most have restrictions on days of the week and minimum purchase amounts—but all in all this is a great way to save date night without emptying your bank account.

Wrapping up February

February’s almost over, you know (yeah, I can’t believe it, either), and that means you’ve got less than a week left to get in on any of this month’s Amazon Grocery Deals before they disappear. I’m just sayin’.

Of particular note, I think:

PG Tips Tea is, as many of you know, my very favorite black tea on the planet, and it’s not terribly expensive even when it’s not on sale, but right now you can save 40%! Use coupon code TIPSPG44 to take 25% off, and purchase via Subscribe and Save for another 15% off and free Super Saver Shipping. If you’re a tea drinker, this is an excellent deal on a really drinkable tea.

Similarly, it’s the last days to save 40% on eligible Kitchens of India products with 25% off coupon code GREATFD2 and the 15% off with Subscribe and Save. (I love love love Kitchens of India. Very yummy stuff.)

And finally, I cannot imagine who needs a ton of candy right now, but I don’t judge, and if your sweet tooth is still feeling unrequited, check out the sale Valentine’s candy (much of it marked down since the passing of the holiday) where coupon code VALCANDY appears to still be working for $10 off of your $59 purchase. This is actually not a bad way to stock up on more expensive chocolates if you’re so inclined.

I’m suddenly very hungry. Huh.

Winners of the Scentsy contest

I feel like I’m going to be spending the entire day catching up on contests. (Possibly because I’m going to be spending the whole day catching up on contests….) But let’s see what we can do. First off, I owe you two winners of complete Scentsy starter systems from last week’s contest.

The lucky winners—according to my old pal the random number generator—are: Chandrea S (commenter 165) and Grooviechick (commenter 12). Congratulations, ladies—please check your email!

Big thanks to all who played, and especially big thanks to Michelle Schrock, independent Scentsy director, who came to me with this contest and generously donated the prizes. And she isn’t done yet! If you didn’t win but you’re interested in Scentsy, Michelle has set up this special link for Want Not readers where you can shop Scentsy and save 10% on your purchases through the end of February. Furthermore, everyone who shops through that link will get a free bonus with their order, too. (Disclosure: It’s set up as a “party” link, but I am not receiving any sort of compensation or product. I am just grateful to Michelle for donating the prizes and would love to send a little business her way as a small thanks.)

Happy scent-shopping! And thanks again, Michelle!

Talk about organized

Good morning! Thanks for your patience while I traipsed all over the globe this weekend. Or at least all over Texas. Things will be returning to normal, now, just as soon as I figure out what that is.

In the meantime, I see that today’s Target Daily Deals have a nice bedside organizer caddy available for just $9 shipped (less with 10% off coupon code URTYJLI8). I know it’s still February, but just imagine… you pick that bad boy up today, on the cheap, and come Father’s Day in June you’re sittin’ pretty. I’m just throwing it out there.

(Remember when we were kids and Father’s Day always meant a tie? And now the quintessential Father’s Day gift is something to organize Dad’s gadgets? “Here, Dad, I got you some cord hiders! I love you!” Life is weird.)

Kohls Cares for Kids Contest

If you’ve been around Want Not for longer than a couple of days, you know that I’m a big fan of Kohls, and in particular, I’m a huge fan of Kohls Cares For Kids. Yes, they raise money for charities, do good work in their local communities, and even sponsor scholarships for needy kids, but they also sell really awesome books and plushes on the cheap to do so. It’s a win-win; you get something fantastic for just $5, they get money to do good for kids all over the country.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Kohls Cares For Kids, and to celebrate, Kohls has generously offered up five complete sets of their current Dr. Seuss-themed line-up for giveaway here at Want Not. Each set includes: The Lorax with Lorax plush, The Foot Book with orange character plush, Oh, The Thinks You Can Think! with yellow plush, If I Ran the Circus with whale plush, and also The Green Book (a handy book of tips on protecting our earth). Each set is a $45 value and five of you are about to feel a lot luckier, greener, and Dr. Seuss-ier. (That is so a word. Hush.)

Want to win a set? Of course you do! First go review the contest rules and regulations, then come on back here and leave a comment on this post by 8:00 a.m. Eastern (that’s 5:00 a.m. Pacific) on Monday, February 22nd, 2010 to be entered. Winners to be determined by random number generation and whether or not you’re willing to win in a box, with a fox, or if you eat rocks. (Not really.) (Please don’t eat rocks.)

Ready? Go!

Saturday deals

Goooood morning! And thanks to you Houstonians who gave me such a warm welcome to your marvelous city. So far I find that most of Houston looks like… well, the inside of this hotel. (Darn work….) But last night I had tacos from a truck and not only were they delicious, I remembered that I was in Texas and went only for the next-hottest sauce available, which was smart, because I still haven’t regained feeling in my tongue. Whew! (You heard it here first: It’s hotter in Texas.)

Anyway, I have a few deals to keep you busy today while I finish up at this conference. And yes, there will be a contest coming up later today, and I’ll get you the winner of the last contest after I get back home.

So you have a local Auntie Anne’s pretzel place? It’s Free Pretzel Day! (I used to love these, before I stopped eating wheat. Sigh.)

All of today’s Target Daily Deals are patio furniture. I can’t help but feel that Summer may indeed be coming. Eventually. (Don’t forget code URTYJLI8 for an extra 10% off.) It looks like Amazon is having a patio furniture sale, too.

There’s tons of clothes available in this weekend’s deals at 6pm.com, for a change of pace. I mean, sure, shoes too, but I always get a little excited when I see those slashed prices on clothes.

Speaking of clothes, this weekend at Fashion Bug they’re having a Buy 2, Get the Second for $10 sale. Maybe that’s not so exciting if you’re looking at t-shirts, but dresses or pants? Could be a good deal.

There’s a huge weekend sale (surprise!) going on at Kohls, with automatic free shipping on $100+. It looks like code NEW430 is still working for 10% off for anyone, too.

Ooooh, the Fundmentals Sale is on over at Old Navy; jeans are just $19, some shirts are $5, etc. (Thanks, Mary!) I wish I had time to shop over there today….

Okay, I have to run off to do work-like things, but check back ’round lunchtime for a very cool weekend contest. I’ll give you a hint: You will like it with a goat, you will like it in a moat. (Ummm… do any of you have a goat or a moat? No? Nevermind. But you would, is my point.)

It’s even Friday in Texas

I’m sorry I abandoned you yesterday. I thought I had plenty of time and then I fell into a wormhole. True, it was a little unsettling, but then I arrived here in Houston to a room upgrade and now I am never going home, on account of my roommate and I were given an entire luxury apartment for the weekend. Please apologize to my husband and children. (Don’t worry, honey—I’ll send for the dog after the conference!)

Anyway, even though I’m away, the Amazon Friday Sale goes on.

I, however, can not go on without coffee, so rather than grumbling about how the sale has shrunk, I will leave you to investigate while I find myself a cup of wake-up. (Weekend posting should be relatively unaffected; I’ll have a batch of deals for you tomorrow morning and we have a super fun contest all ready to go for tomorrow around lunchtime, too.)

Leaving, on a jet plane

Just a little advance warning—I’m traveling today, so posting will be light this afternoon. If any of you are going to be at Mom 2.0 this weekend, please come say hi! I’ll be speaking on the Got Strategy? panel on Friday morning (uhhh… I think; I don’t seem to be on the schedule yet, as I’m a last-minute substitution for another speaker), and wandering around admiring people’s shoes the rest of the time.

Speaking of shoes… no fair that I don’t have time to properly delve into today’s deals at 6pm.com. Nike, Easy Spirit, Red Wing… oh, man! Last chance clearance on Michael Kors? Darn you, travel schedule! Hmph.

He climbs walls and does furniture

There’s a crop of great discounts today over in the Target Daily Deals, but I’m wishing I still had a little guy who was superhero-crazy, because they’ve got a kid-sized Spiderman table and chairs set for just $15 shipped.

If I bought that for my son now, there would be much eye-rolling. Because he’s too big for such childish things, I guess. I just… ummm… hang on, there’s something in my eye….

(Coupon code URTYJLI8 is still working for 10% off, too.)
