Friday comes in on damp doggie feet

(At least, damp doggie feet are what I get on Friday morning when I’m too tired to remember to dry the dog off after her morning pit stop outside. Oops.)

The end of the month is here! (How on earth did that happen??) That means today is probably the last day for the current batch of Manager’s Specials on groceries at Amazon, so it’s worth taking a look if you have some time. I’ll confess I not only loaded up on chocolate for end-of-year teacher gifts, but I bought a bunch of cocoa for next Christmas, too. Bear in mind that Amazon grocery specials sometimes have very close expiration dates, but every time I’ve gotten something that’s only good for a couple of months and I’ve spoken with customer service about it, they’ve refunded my money. So—to my mind, anyway—it’s a low-risk situation. And often the reduced foods are perfectly fresh with expirations out a year or more.

Also at Amazon, don’t forget that today is the last day to snag a slew of discounted magazine subscriptions where the second year is free, including many options that would make lovely Mother’s Day gifts. I’m just sayin’.

You can Spring Into Savings at Old Navy through the weekend; they’re offering an additional 30% off “select seasonal styles” with coupon code ONBIG30. I threw a bunch of stuff into my cart to check and it seemed to work on everything, so I’m not sure what the select-ness of it means. I just know I’m a fool for sales at Old Navy.

Today’s deals at 6pm.com include up to 70% off on Born shoes, and I love my Borns with a passion that borders on abnormal. And you know, Borns used to all be ugly (but comfy); now they’re actually cute, too!

Threadless isn’t having a sale, but they just started accepting Paypal and released some coupon codes in celebration. Use code YayPal5 for $5 off your $30+ order, or use code YayPal10 for $10 off your $50+ order! The coupon is valid through Monday, May 3rd.

In need of maternity clothing? Through Monday you can save an extra 10% on sale items at Pea in the Pod, Motherhood Maternity, or Destination Maternity, automatically.

Here’s hoping your Friday is full of excellent things, and that all your paws are dry. Uh, you know what I mean.

Moms apparently wear Crocs

(Probably while they’re gardening and drinking tea….)

So you’ve got a day and a half to go shop at Crocs online and you can use coupon code LUVMOM20 to save 20% on your order (it’ll work on everything except the Crocband collection).

Note to my family: Please do not buy me Crocs for Mother’s Day, mmmkay? Thanks.

Spring cleaning for your kitchen

There’s little I find more satisfying than cleaning out bags and bags of things we don’t need, dropping them off at Goodwill, and coming home to a much emptier (and cleaner) house. Ahhhh.

It turns out that companies do spring cleaning, too, only we get to reap the benefits. (And if you’ve done your spring cleaning already, well, you have plenty of room for new acquisitions!) Through Tuesday, May 4th, Oneida is cleaning house—shop their $10 deals, $5 deals, and even under $3 deals! (And yes, some of these deals are on a single fork or what have you… but there’s a set of steak knives for $3. They’re probably not the best ones in the world, but for $3….)

Shipping starts at $6.50/order, and is free on orders of $99+.

Once they’re gone, they’re gone… but who doesn’t love the rush of a really good yard sale without having to leave the house?

Hey Verizon, this is Incredible

Y’all know I’m a total Mac fangirl, and so I’ll just be over here cradling my (first generation, because I’m cheap) iPhone, but for those of you drooling over the new Droid Incredible, I have some great news.

Amazon is selling the Incredible for $99 with a qualifying Verizon service plan. (It should work either as a new plan sign-up or as a contract extension on an existing plan.)

Guess what Verizon is selling them for. Go on, guess! If you guessed $200, you are correct and win a sense of righteous indignation! Oh, Verizon. Shame on you.

If you want one, go tell Amazon you can hear them now. Heh.

Moms like to do Mom things

I love how there are “standard” Mother’s and Father’s Day gifts, even in our so-called modern age. Like, every dad must want a tie (even though the number of men who still have to wear a tie to work every day is ever-dwindling)! And every mom must like to drink tea and garden!

It’s ridiculous, but on the other hand, it’s kind of amusing. Especially if you’re the kind of mom who likes to drink tea and garden. (So sue me.)

I think today’s assortment of Target Daily Deals are meant to get you thinking about Mother’s Day, and despite the tired stereotype, yes, that tea set is pretty cool, and I have one of those indoor gardening totes (though mine is not shocking pink like that one) and it’s pretty handy. They’re surely not right for every mom, but the prices are hard to beat.

I’m also considering that duvet cover, though I’m not sure what sort of mom that makes me. One who likes to sleep…?

You’re part of the family

Had your eye on something at Macy’s? Through May 3rd, 2010, it’s Friends & Family discount time—just use coupon code MACYSAFF to save 25% on nearly everything (it only gives you 10% off on electronics), and you’ll also get free shipping on $99+.

Now, if only there were some family members we only had to deal with during times of deep discounts. That sounds like some sort of impossible Utopia. (I guess I’ll have to settle for getting a pretty dress on sale. For now.)

Reminder: Best of Fest contest

Don’t forget—you have until just before midnight tonight to enter to win your favorite Best of Fest gift set, DVDs of the best films you’ve never seen. I not only love this concept, I love that they’ve gone ahead and grouped them together for you by theme, too. What’s not to love about a company that went out and compiled the best films for dog lovers right alongside the best romance films? Nothing, that’s what.

As always, please be sure to leave your entry on the contest post to be part of the fun. Comments on this post shall be reserved for discussion of chocolate. Like, I had lunch with an old friend last weekend and she reminded me that she’s allergic to chocolate and I felt so sorry for her I fear she thought I was a little nutty. But but but… life without chocolate?? What a terrible thought.

Spotlight deals on DVDs

I’m not entirely sure why Amazon has chosen to have a Spotlight Deals Event on DVDs just before Mother’s Day—perhaps they’re telling us that the greatest gift you can give Mom is some quality time with the television?—but I’m just going to go with it. When there’s savings like this to be had, I try not to ask too many questions.

Plus, I always like to pick up some DVDs for Father’s Day. Because everyone knows that tacitly promising your husband some uninterrupted viewing time really is the greatest gift you can give him. I mean, at least it’s the best gift I’m willing to discuss in polite company.

What?

Burt’s back

For those of you who were sad when you missed the last Target Daily Deal on a cute Burt’s Bees set, take heart—there’s another one available today! Granted, part of me feels like the little polka-dot pouch from last time was cuter, but today’s $10 option of peppermint body goodies is pretty nice, too, and if you’re in a teacher-gifts frame of mind, this is a great way to look twice as generous as you actually are. (It’ll be our little secret.)

Don’t forget to use this link to activate a $5 off $50+ coupon if you’re buying a bunch.

Other deals for today include a coffeemaker, crib bedding, plus-size athletic capris, and the mack daddy of all Nerf guns. So, you know, just the regular cohesive assortment we’ve come to expect from Target.

Hop on the Wii wagon

Haven’t yet succumbed to the siren song of the Nintendo Wii, yet? Sometimes procrastination pays off. Like, if you were to be shopping for a Wii console right now, you could take advantage of a bundle deal at Amazon wherein you pay $199 for the Wii, and get to pick a qualifying bonus game to go with it for free.

I paid $250 for mine and my only bonus was knowing I was a sucker. So there you go.

(Pssst! They’ve also got Wii Fit Pluses in stock for the first time in a while. Just sayin’.)
