Get your pants

Apparently you can shop as little or as much as you like today at the Dockers online store and your order will ship for free, automatically. Why? I don’t know. Perhaps April 26th is the yearly holiday to commemorate khakis. Really, does it matter? Free shipping is free shipping. (Free returns, too, in case you’re worried about that.)

There’s some cute stuff in the clearance, section too. (Relax, guys. I’m referring to the women’s clearance, though you’re plenty cute, too.) I may have to order that black pencil skirt. For $15 it seems like I could hardly go wrong.

(Thanks for the heads up, Peggy! You’re pretty!)

Deals big and small

I would very much like to know who decides what deals go into the Target Daily Deals each day; sometimes there’s a theme (which makes sense to me) and other times it’s just like they threw darts at the product catalog while blindfolded. And possibly drunk.

Which is why today you can snag a great Olay Quench gift collection pack for just $5 (which is, I think, about what you’d pay for the body wash alone, so it’s like getting the razor, lotion, bath puff, and body bar for free), and/or a patio furniture set for $500. You know, either way. Sometimes when I’m showering I realize what I really want most out of life is wicker seating. I’m sure we’ve all been there. (Don’t forget to click through this link for an additional $5 off your $50+ purchase, if you’re spending that much.)

See? I’m telling you, there’s alcohol involved.

Get there every time

I know I never talk about my love of GPS units here…

…. ahahahaaaaaa! I crack myself up!

(But, really, now: I went into Atlanta to meet a friend this weekend. And I don’t know if you’re familiar with Atlanta, but all of the streets are at funny angles to each other, all of the intersections are at least five streets converging, and half of the streets are named “Peachtree.” Without my GPS I’d still be there, driving in circles. And probably sobbing.)

Today’s Amazon Gold Box Deal is the TomTom XL 340S for just $90 shipped. It’s text-to-speech (i.e., it speaks street names) and is just about guaranteed to get you out of Atlanta alive.

In fact, I wonder why they don’t put that on the box. It should totally be their slogan: “Guaranteed to get you out of Atlanta alive!” (I’m awesome at this, no? TomTom, call me!)

Pretty clearance

Amazon is having a big clearance on pretty shoes, right now, and really, you’ve been so good lately….

(Enabler? I don’t know what you’re talking about. Here, the first hit’s free. Everybody’s doing it.)

Get your crafty on

I have to tell you, Want Not regulars are not only an extraordinarily good-looking bunch (because you are—I especially love those shoes), but you’re also very generous. Recently, lovely reader Crissy emailed me to say that her order from Heather Bailey had netted her a few extras she didn’t need, and did I want to give them away on Want Not?

Of course I did. Isn’t Crissy pretty?

So here’s what we have: The Henrietta Turtle pincushion pattern with the Gladys fabric kit to make one, and the Fresh-Picked Pincushions pattern booklet with the yellow pear fabric kit to make one. Both are fun little projects that yield pretty little pincushions in Heather Bailey’s signature fabrics, so if you’re a crafty type, this giveaway is definitely for you!

Want to win one of them? Pay attention, now—first you need to go review the contest rules and regulations, then come on back here and leave me a comment telling me if you want the pear or the turtle by 8:00 a.m. Eastern (that’s 5:00 a.m. Pacific) on Monday, April 26th, 2010 for a chance to win. If you don’t pick one your contest entry doesn’t count, so please follow the rules. Winners, as always, to be selected by random number generation (and ability to follow the rules!) and whatever else strikes my fancy. Okay, just the random number thing.

Ready? Go!

Saturday deals

I had big gardening plans for today, people, but I woke up to rain. I guess you can garden in the rain, but I am not that dedicated. Particularly when I could stay inside and shop for shoes and be perfectly dry. I’m just sayin’.

I headed straight for 6pm.com, of course. (Yes, I’m predictable.) Weekend deals include Privo, Converse, Tatami and more.

Amazon just restocked their Manager’s Specials, which means it’s a great time to stock up on groceries. I’m seeing plenty of deals that work with Subscribe & Save, too, which always means an additional 15% off and free shipping. (I’m looking at you, Kitchens of India deliciousness.)

Ready to go swimming? Today’s Sale of the Day at The Company Store is swimsuits for women and girls—with some incredible deals to be had. Not only are the girls’ suits adorable, they have skirted bottoms for us grown-ups who maybe like a little more coverage. Ahem.

And if you need shorts for the beach, too, right now all adult shorts are 30% off at Gap for a limited time.

The Great Give Back Sale at Macy’s is on this weekend, with additional savings on just about everything.

It’s clearance time at Graveyard Mall; use coupon code april10clear to take an additional 50% off anything in their Daily Deal section. (Yes, shipping at Graveyard Mall is a lot. Maybe worth it if you’re buying multiples of something.)

Looking for some gently-used games, CDs, or DVDs this weekend? Shop SecondSpin and spend $25+, and you can apply coupon code SSAPFLS to get an additional 20% off and free shipping.

That should keep you busy for a while, right? Right. Come on back later today for a chance to win, too.

Winners of the Miracle Girls contest

Ready for a miracle? I can’t move mountains or refreeze the polar ice caps, but I can give away some great young adult fiction, and so that’s what I’m going to do.

Ready? The winners of the latest Miracle Girls novel, Love Will Keep Us Together, are: LeAnna Wilson (commenter 46), Christina (commenter 43), Tanya (commenter 77), and Mary Ann (commenter 23). Our grand prize winner—who will be receiving the entire 4-book series—is Lisa (commenter 74). Hooray! Congratulations, all—please check your email!

As always, big thanks to all who played, and special thanks to our extremely generous pals at Hachette for always offering up such great (and plentiful) prizes for us book nerds.

Didn’t win this time? Buck up, Buttercup! I’ve had an influx of prize opportunities these last few weeks, and not only are more chances to win coming up, I think we’ll be bringing back the weekend contest, too. That means your next chance to win will be tomorrow, so you hardly even have time to pout. Woo!

He’s dead, Jim

I think the Amazon Friday Sale has finally and completely died. RIP, Friday Sale. I shall remember you fondly. Also? I shall try to fill this empty Friday-Sale-shaped hole in my heart with $5 MP3 albums, but I really don’t think it’s going to be the same, Amazon. (Okay, fine. This Cuisinart ice cream maker for $30 is a pretty slammin’ deal—and this is the same maker I currently own and love—and the red is very pretty, but I am still mad at you. Hmph.)

I’m strangely intrigued by the featured bargain in today’s Target Daily Deals; I’ve never heard of a salt bowl lamp, but in addition to looking kind of interesting, the reviewers comments are kind of hilarious. Ahem. There’s also a nice wood dinette in there for half off with another 15% taken at checkout. (Um, it’s not in the lamp. In the deals.) Don’t forget to activate this link to get an additional $5 off if your order exceeds $50.

There’s lots of pretty, pretty brands highlighted in today’s deals at 6pm.com, but I’ve got my eye on a pair of those Terrasoles sandals.

It’s Restaurant.com savings time again! Just use coupon code MEAL to take 80% off your purchase price, netting you $25 of fine dining for just $2 out-of-pocket. If you prefer just throwing away $23 at a clip, please email me and I’ll send you my address. Heh. (Note: I think the economy is working in our favor here—the last few certificates we bought had no day-of-the-week restrictions at all. Do read the fine print before you buy, of course.)

I owe you some book winners, and those will be coming up later today. Stay tuned….

He ain’t heavy, he’s a dumbbell

(If you can name the song reference, and know who sang it, you can come sit on the porch swing with me and we’ll wave our canes at the neighborhood whippersnappers together.)

Been thinking about buying some free weights? I have, actually. It turns out that past a certain (ahem) age, the elliptical machine is not enough to have the firming results one might desire. (Subtitle: Gravity is a harsh mistress.) Anyway, I came across this 40-pound dumbbell set at Amazon for under $38 with free shipping.

Forty pounds worth of free shipping. That almost makes the set free when you think about what anyone else would charge you to ship it. Heh.

Anyway, it’s everything you need to get started with free weights, including a storage rack, and at under a buck a pound, you’d be hard pressed to find it for less. (Pressed, get it? Get it?? Just a little lifting humor!)

Whew, this post took a lot out of me. Anyone have some ice cream…?

So soft, they named it that

Here’s another Earth Day sale for you, though this one is near and dear to my heart.

Soft Clothing makes soft, cotton clothes for kids. Big deal, right? Except that it sort of is—all of their clothes are free of scratchy seams, crunchy materials, and the tight elastic that some kids with sensory issues just can’t tolerate. I first encountered Soft when reviewing them for Cool Mom Picks, and they sent me a shirt for my son to try. He promptly wore it every single time it came out of the washer/dryer, telling me it was the “best shirt in the world” and “better than pajamas.” Which is a very big deal when you’re talking about a kid that once told me that his belt was, you know, trying to suffocate him.

Their regular prices are totally doable, if a bit more than we generally see on the big sales ’round here. But if you have a “sensory kid” you’ll want to check ‘em out… and when better than today, when they’re offering an Earth Day special where shipping is absolutely free, today only. Just use coupon code softearth at checkout.

I pink puffy heart this company. They would never try to suffocate you with a belt.
