Winner of the Stella & Dot contest

Last week plenty of you chimed in for a chance to win a pair of Stella & Dot earrings. The bad news is that there’s only one winner; the good news is that Stella & Dot stylist Amy (you know, the generous lady who’s providing the prize) has a consolation offer for the rest of you. Thinking of placing a Stella & Dot order? Contact Amy directly (her email is on her website) and mention Want Not, and she’ll ship your order for free. Thanks, Amy!

Okay, the random number generator has spoken, and the winner is… commenter 95, Jennifer. Congratulations, Jennifer—please check your email!

Thanks again for Amy, and also to everyone who played. If you didn’t win this time, don’t worry! There’s always more chances to win coming up.

Saturday deals

I have a million things to do this weekend, so of course I woke up with a cold. Hmph. As a result I’m moving a liiiittle slooooowly this morning. Shhhh, I’m getting there.

The Amazon Gold Box holds a Magellan GPS with free lifetime map updates for $120, which means it’s the last GPS you’ll ever need and you’ll never have to spend another cent on it. Not that it’s not entertaining to drive along on a newly-constructed road and have my GPS scold me to “Please return to the road. Please return to the road!”, but this may be the better choice.

Oooh, in addition to all of today’s incredible shoe deals at 6pm.com, they also have up to 65% off on Tahari, otherwise known as “one of the brands I go to TJ Maxx to stalk.”

Need more summer shoes, or ready to stock up for next year? They’re having a giant buy one, get one half off sale at Crocs! What’s more, there’s such a long list of model-specific codes available, I just took a screen capture of the email I got rather than typing them all out. Also, it looks like code springfreeship may still be working for free shipping, though it won’t reflect until the final screen, if it is indeed working.

You’ve probably heard of Alice.com by now, but did you know that you can shop Alice via Buy.com? As a little incentive, Buy.com is offering a $10 off $50 coupon on Alice purchases, just to get you started.

Been thinking about a purchase at GiftsForYouNow.com? Here, let me further enable you with a couple of this-weekend-only codes (you’re welcome)! Use code NEWGFYN15 for 15% off any order, or code NEWGFYN20 for 20% off your $45+ order.

Get free shipping on $50+ at Gap with code GAPSHIP50 this weekend, just in case you missed one of the previous bazillion sales they were having. Heh.

I am going to go curl up on my couch with some tea, but I will rustle up a contest winner for you at some point today, pinky swear.

Friday is hot

Today we have reached the point in the summer where I start wondering if, in fact, Georgia is located on the surface of the sun. You’d think I’d be used to it by now, but you’d be wrong. Apparently I never get used to the temperature being 101, with the cheerful forecast assuring me that it feels like 108.

So. I will stay in the air conditioning, and drown my sorrows in shopping. Yes.

Today’s Amazon Friday Sale actually has a couple of decent deals: For the gluten-free amongst us, check out this deal on Glutino pretzel sticks (which are, in my humble opinion, the only GF pretzels worth eating). It comes out to around $4 per 14 oz bag after the discount and Subscribe & Save, which is about half price. There’s also quite a few Kitchens of India items on the cheap after discount and S&S, like this curry paste variety pack. Yum. And the PopChips deal I posted last night seems to still be working, too.

Don’t forget that today and tomorrow are your last days to scoop up dining savings at Restaurant.com while using 80% off code PLATE. Yes, there will be another coupon code in a week or so, but the 80% off codes typically only happen at the end of the month, so it’s a good time to buy.

There’s plenty of 75% off options at 6pm.com today, including Diesel, Vaneli, and Tretorn (plus other deals as well). Hooray for cheap shoes!

That should keep you busy for a little while, right? I have to go climb into the freezer for a few minutes.

School snacks? Popped and ready.

I’m thinking this one is going to sell out pretty quickly….

Right now Amazon has 24-packs of various flavor PopChips available for $20.40, which is hardly a deal. But: Subscribe & Save takes the price down 15%; code SNACKER6 takes the price down another 20%; and code POPC4BTS takes off another 15%. End result? 24 lunchbag-ready bags of a healthy potato chip alternative for under $.50/bag.

Yes, yes; I know. I buy the big bags and portion them out, to save money, too. But at this price, it’s as cheap as doing it myself. I’m stocking up.

Smarter shipping

I always have my eyes open for a good deal on a scale I can use for weighing packages, because I hate standing in line at the post office. I just picked up this 55-pound scale for $16; free shipping with Prime or on $25+ with Super Saver Shipping, and now I can use the online USPS postage program and never stand in line. (I’ll use mine to ship prizes to you, but I know quite a few readers do a lot of eBay and Etsy and might find such a thing useful.)

Besides, the “Does this contain any fragile, liquid, perishable, or potentially hazardous?” question really creeps me out, every time. Does anyone ever answer yes to that? Why does it make me feel guilty when I’m just shipping a book??

Okay, this one really is school supplies

Hey, did I link this one earlier in the month? The days are all kind of running together, probably stuck to one another with popsicle juice and chlorine. Summer is like that, you know.

Regardless, through the end of July, Amazon is offering a sweet school supply deal where spending $100 on eligible products gets you a $20 promo code.

I’m seeing just about everything we need for back-to-school in there, as well as all-year-long supplies like paper—which are already marked down—which means that you could really leverage this deal to your advantage on things you were planning to buy, anyway.

But you’ve only got a few more days to do it; August is going to be here next week. Oy.

Back to school tech

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, because everyone is having a sale to celebrate kids going back to school. It doesn’t matter if it’s something the kids need, even. Back to school clothes! Back to school crayons! Back to school windshield wipers! Whatever.

So there’s a ton of special back to school offers at CompUSA, right now, and I’m pretty sure most of these items aren’t on any elementary school supply lists. But what the heck; a sale’s a sale.

I poked around some and am currently drooling just a little on this refurbished Gateway netbook for just $200. That’s a sweet little computer if you’re looking for something ultra-portable but with all the functionality of a regular laptop (it even has a webcam).

Sure, it costs a little more than crayons and glue, but it’s more fun for the big kids. (And by “big kids” I of course mean “me.”)

Pick your protection

(Guys, just skip this one. Trust me.)

Ladies! Can’t get enough of those free samples in the mail? How about one where you get to pick what you receive? Right now Kotex is offering 4 different sample packs, so you can choose the one that best fits your lifestyle. (Or, you know, if you’re post-hysterectomy like me, the one that you think will most horrify your tween daughter. It’s fun being my kid!)

In the end, you get 4 free Kotex products, and free is good.

Reminder: Stella and Dot contest

Do you love funky jewelry? Do you want to win a beautiful pair of earrings? Don’t forget to get your entry in on this week’s contest to win a pair of Stella and Dot earrings. You can’t win if you don’t enter, you know.

As always, please leave a comment on the contest post to enter. Only leave a comment on this post if you have something terribly important non-contest-related to tell me. Like that you just got some cool new shoes. Or that you think my hair looks particularly bouncy today.

(Oh, who am I kidding? It’s late July in Georgia. You could bounce a bowling ball off my hair right now and I wouldn’t even feel it.)

Save a little or a lot

You can find all of the hosiery and other undergarments (I love that word… sounds like we’re all wearing corsets! and hoop skirts!) you need over at One Hanes Place, just about any time. (Not to mention various casual clothing, too.) But there’s two good things happening right now: First, they’re having a Warehouse Sale, for additional savings. Second, you can use coupon code 612332 through the end of the month for an additional 15% off.

Which means you can buy an extra hoop skirt. You can never have too many of those, you know.
