Another good day to Kohls

Need something over at Kohls? Pretty reader Jerrie let me know that due to some site downtime, Kohls is offering free shipping on $50+ orders through August 29th with coupon code YOUR50. (Thanks, Jerrie!) It’s not as fabulous as the free-shipping-on-any-order coupons of yore, but I’ll take it.

In addition, everyone can use coupon code LOWPRICE15 through August 28th for an additional 15% off—no Kohls card required.

And guess what! Today they’re having their lowest prices of the season. No, really, they mean it this time. Probably. Let’s all just cross our fingers and pretend to be shocked.

Print it; print it good

On the lookout for a quality printer at a bargain price? Today’s Amazon Gold Box deal is a Canon PIXMA all-in-one with great reviews, for just $69 shipped.

Among its many features is automatic two-sided printing, which may be enough to tempt me to pick one up (because apparently a Masters degree isn’t enough to make figuring out which way to re-feed the paper to accomplish printing at the right orientation on the opposite side any easier, ahem). It’s also wireless, so you can put it wherever you want and have it work with every computer in the house. Or pop the memory card out of your camera and plug it in directly and print your photos in a flash. Whatever.

Remember the good old days, when you couldn’t get these kind of features at three times the price? Kids today have it too easy, by golly. Get off my lawn!

Another day, another sale

I’m not complaining, mind you, but lately it does seem like Old Navy has a new code out every other day. Nice of them! Anyway, today you can use coupon code ONSAVE25 and save 25% off everything except leather outerwear and “everyday values.”

And you know what I say to that, right? When the heck did Old Navy start selling leather outerwear??

Hooray, it’s easier to get free shipping!

Great news—Soap.com just lowered their threshold for free 2-day shipping to just $25. Not as a promotion, not as a coupon, but as their everyday, automatic free shipping. And because they have a shared cart with Diapers.com, you can add in anything from there, as well, towards your $25+. (Conversely, if you’re shopping Diapers.com and don’t want to get up to $49 for free shipping, find a little something from Soap.com to throw in your basket and you’ll qualify for free shipping at $25.)

Don’t forget that you can use coupon code WANT4632 for 15% off your first order at Soap.com, and today (August 24th) is the last day to use code AUGSALE for 10% off $25+, 15% off $50+, or 25% off $100+ when you’re shopping clothing at Diapers.com. Or use Aff15PCT for 15% off your first order at Diapers.com.

Order it now, before you forget

Question: Hey Mir, aren’t there other deals happening today that aren’t at Amazon?
Answer: Apparently not. I have no idea what’s up with that.

Hey, did you know that the latest Diary of a Wimpy Kid book, The Ugly Truth, is now available for pre-order at Amazon? Just $7.67, or less if the price drops before it’s released.

I love doing pre-orders on the books my kids love—saves me fighting the crowds or waiting around after the release date.

And no, I never did see the movie. I was afraid it would ruin the books.

They’re back, and Halloween is coming

I know, it’s a little early to be talking Halloween, but if the stores can be cramming themselves full of costumes already, I can talk about candy. Frankly, I can talk about candy any time, really. Ahem.

Anyway! My favorite candy deal is back on at Amazon: Get the 5-pound bag of Yummy Earth lollipops for just $13.47 shipped when you buy directly from Amazon, utilizing Subscribe & Save. Five pounds of lollipops is kind of a lot (approximately 325 pops!), but with a candy-giving holiday ’round the corner, I doubt you’ll have trouble using them up.

Remember, these are all-natural, organic, allergen-free, no artificial anything candies. Basically it’s the most guiltless pop you’re going to find. And at under a nickel a pop, they’re cheaper than the junky candy, even. Plus, they come in awesome flavors like pomegranate and mango tango.

I sometimes buy these and put them in cute candy jars for teacher gifts, too. Just because otherwise I’ll eat them all I’m nice like that.

Charge me up

In a house with a photographer, our stash of AA batteries runneth over. In fact, my kids don’t even bother asking me when they need batteries or can’t find their chargers, anymore. They just go straight to my husband.

But (you knew there was a but). I have one little clock that takes AAA batteries. And every time the batteries die, I vow to buy rechargeables for it, and then I see something shiny and forget, and eventually I buy regular batteries because I’m at the store and they’re right there. Lather, rinse, repeat. Whoops.

But not anymore! Because today I discovered that Amazon has a 4-pack of NiMH precharged AAA batteries currently available for $7.73. That’s not too exciting. But… a link urging me to check my coupons reveals (after refreshing the page a couple of times) that there’s a $2 coupon available, making my 4 rechargeable batteries cheaper that disposables.

Now if I can’t just remember to recharge them when they die….

Way more sophisticated than I remember

About a zillion years ago—when dinosaurs still roamed the earth—I began my college career in Massachusetts’ Berkshire Mountains. It’s a breathtaking, scenic area, and mostly inhabited by hippies, if memory serves. My idea of dressing up when I lived there was to put on shoes.

So you can imagine my surprise when I was invited to take a look at Shabby Apple’s new Berkshires collection and found an assortment of retro ooh-la-la dresses ready to take on the office or a night out. It’s certainly not the Berkshires I remember, but I’m not going to argue. These classy new styles appeal to my grown-up taste a lot more than my crinkly skirts of yesteryear, anyway.

Go, take a look. Drool-worthy, yes? I hope you agree, because one lucky Want Not reader is going to win the Berkshires dress of her choice this week from Shabby Apple. Is that awesome or what?

Want to play? First, go review the contest rules and regulations (including the one about not playing if you’ve won something in the last month… sorry, this morning’s yogurt winners!), then come on back here and leave a comment telling me which Berkshires dress you’d like to receive on this post by 8:00 a.m. Eastern (that’s 5:00 a.m. Pacific) on Thursday, August 26th, 2010 to be entered. Please review the general rules! Please follow the specific rules! (Hint: If you don’t name a dress, your entry is disqualified.) Me, I had a terrible time deciding, but if I was eligible for this contest, I’d definitely go with the Scarlett Raven. Or the Jacob’s Pillow. Maybe. Ack! Thank goodness I don’t have to decide, I guess.

Winner, as always, to be determined with the help of my old pal the random number generator. And possibly whether or not you know how to make victory rolls (for you young whippersnappers, this is not bread).

Ready? Go!

The perfect opportunity to take the plunge

I know that sometimes—just as a toddler has to be offered the same food a bunch of times before he’ll try it—I sometimes have to post a certain store or deal a few times before someone tries it out. And yes, I apparently just compared y’all to toddlers who are picky eaters. I apologize. Um, let’s start over.

So! I recently posted about the free Back-To-School products available at Vistaprint, which encouraged some of you to go get your free custom labels, business cards, calendars, etc. But others still hesitated. If you’re still a Vistaprint virgin, let’s try this: Right now new customers save 25% on any order, plus orders of $25+ ship free through that there link. And yes, you can combine that with the free products, too, so you can get all manner of wonderful stuff for very little money.

People sometimes ask me how Vistaprint makes any money, doing all of these specials. It kind of reminds me of the old Saturday Night Live skit. (In other words, the answer is probably “volume.” Or maybe “they don’t.” I’m not sure.)

It does a body good

Do you like to buy those organic milk boxes for your kids’ lunches, but prefer not to sell a vital organ every time you go to stock up? (“Sorry, honey, we’re out of kidneys.”) Amazon comes to the rescue for those of us who don’t have Costco (because I know someone is going to pipe up with the cost of these at Costco)!

Through September 11, 2010, Amazon is running specials on both Horizon milk boxes and Organic Valley milk boxes (thanks for the heads up, Heidi!). The latter is the slightly better deal, if you don’t have a preference—using the provided coupon codes and Subscribe & Save to maximize your savings, it comes out to about $.93/box (vs. $.99/box for the other).

Me, I’m generally mean and make ‘em drink water, but I do like to have a case of these in the pantry to throw in lunches now and then, like on the rare days when I send them in with cookies. Yum.
