Happy birthday, Piperlime!

You know that when there’s a sale on shoes, I am so there. And maybe you don’t remember how Piperlime celebrated their birthday last year, but I do, and they’re doing it again, this year—every purchase gets a $25 gift certificate. Every single one, regardless of size!

That’s pretty sweet, but it gets even better. 1 in every 100 orders will get a $100 gift certificate, instead.

It’s like gambling, but legal and you get pretty shoes out of it. I will totally play those odds. (Plus, Piperlime carries a bunch of clothing, now, just in case you don’t need shoes. Although I cannot imagine what it would be like not to need shoes.)

This offer is good today only, so don’t miss it.

Like a credit card with training wheels

So you’ve gone and had a teenager. Congratulations! The once-cheerful child you’ve come to know and adore has disappeared, leaving a not-quite-adult in its place who is hungry, demanding, and wants to go to the mall or shop online without you, but with your money, thanks.

Uh oh.

Don’t panic! BillMyParents is here to help! Think of it as a credit card with training wheels, to ease your teen into the wonderful world of credit card usage. Choose from either the supervised shopping feature on partner sites—online purchases are emailed to you for approval before processing—or a prepaid debit MasterCard with a set spending limit; either way your teen gets a bit of spending autonomy within a safe, controlled framework. There’s never any surprise expenditures, your kid’s tender credit score is unaffected, and it’s a great way to start those hard conversations about how one uses a credit card responsibly. (Also? Because I manage my kids’ allowance online, what a fabulous way for me to load their own money onto a card for them, worry-free.)

Anyway. The fine folks at BillMyParents are so sure you’re going to love ‘em, they’re offering up a $50 prepaid debit MasterCard to one parent/teen duo for this contest! Please note: The winner of this contest will need to provide the names and email addresses of both the controlling adult and the teen (aged 13-18) in order to receive the prize.

Want to win it? Of course you do! First go review the contest rules and regulations, then come on back here and leave a comment on this post by 8:00 a.m. Eastern (that’s 5:00 a.m. Pacific) on Thursday, October 28th, 2010 to be entered. Winner to be determined by random number generation and strength of eye roll, which is how I knew I had a teen of my very own, thankyouverymuch.

Ready? Go!

All professional-like

There are a few office products that appeal to me not because I truly need them, but because they make my home office feel more official. I know; I’m a total dork. I’m aware.

And really, I’m not sure I buy the supposed original price of $170 on this Brother QL-570 Professional Label Printer, but at $36 shipped from Buy.com I can see finding plenty of excuses to use it, especially when you consider that it’s still selling for $50 over at Amazon.

I’m pretty sure this is the machine my son’s school uses to print out visitor badges, now that I’m looking at it. Fancy!

My wish was bigger, though

Look, it’s not that I don’t appreciate it when Hanna Andersson has a sale, because I totally do. And 20% off nearly everything is great, don’t get me wrong.

But I can’t get behind them calling is the “Get What You Wish Sale.” Because if we’re going with what I wished for, I wish for at least 50% off. Or—heck, why not—free Swedish cotton all around! Look under your chair! Everyone reading this blog gets a free pair of stripey long johns, woooooo!

I know, I know. I’m just sayin’. Why not just call it the 20% Off Nearly Everything Sale? Truth in advertising, people. Learn it. Love it.

Enhance your Wii, save some dough

If you’ve been thinking about getting a balance board for your Wii, this may be the week to grab one—right now Target has the Wii Fit Plus with Balance Board on special for just $77 and free shipping. But if you use the aforementioned 10% off code C4XLD4LP, that takes it down to around $70. Woo! Not bad at all. (For comparison: Still right around $100 at Amazon right now.)

This may be a great way to scoop up a deal prior to the Black Friday madness, if you have your heart set on one. I’ll confess, I rarely use mine for exercise, anymore, but it is a fun addition to several games we have.

And if I were less of a slug, I’d probably still use it to exercise, too.

Ignore the technical difficulties

It seems that the Target Daily Deals are doing that thing, again, where the main page doesn’t show a markdown. So it says they have trench coats, originally $49.99, for… $49.99. Ignore that! It’s not true. If you add one to your cart, it’s a cool $20. And they come in a rainbow of colors, so I’m trying to decide which color I need right now. (I’m thinking gray. It’s my new favorite neutral.) (I’m lying. I’m thinking I need two; one in gray and maybe… the red?)

Reviews are mixed, but really, for $20? I’ll chance it.

Here, make it even better—try coupon code C4XLD4LP for an additional 10% off.

Now that’s a great way to start the week.

You’ll leave the house for this one

Remember when Groupon did the whole in-store Gap thing, and it was such a good discount, even those of us who always shop online were willing to slog to the mall to save some dough?

Check it out: Today Groupon is offering a nation-wide deal of $40 to The Body Shop for just $20. The only catch is, you have to redeem it in-store, not online.

Is $20 off luscious skin and body products enough to get you out of your pajamas and out to the mall? I can’t speak for you, of course, but with the holidays coming, I can tell you it’s definitely enough for me. And you know how I feel about my pajamas.

Winner of the Voskos contest

I had no idea y’all were so excited about yogurt. I mean, it brings a little tear to my eye. So many of you wanted to win a month’s supply of Voskos Greek yogurt, and it makes me wish I had a giant yogurt stash to share with the world. (You know the whole “I’d like to give the world a Coke” song? I’d like to give each of you a carton of yogurt. That’s not weird, is it?)

Anyway, we can only have one winner, so I turned to my old pal, the random number generator. And it selected commenter 150, Jennifer. Congratulations, Jennifer—check your email!

Big thanks to all who played, and special thanks to Voskos for both sending my family some delicious yogurt and then taking care of the prize for Jennifer, too.

Didn’t win this time? Don’t be blue! Another contest is always coming up, though I’ll grant you that it’s pretty hard to top all that yogurt.

Saturday deals

Gooooood morning! There’s nothing quite like a lazy morning after a week of getting up entirely too early. Ahhhh.

Want a little giggle this morning? Check out the new Amazon Holiday Toy List feature, chock-full of the items Amazon is sure you’re going to want for kids this year. It’s, uh, quite the assortment. (Perfect for the person thinking, “Hmmm, should I buy that baby some building blocks or an ant farm…? I can’t decide!”)

You know I can barely even say the word “jeggings” without it catching in my throat, but if you’ve caught legging-mania (or—more likely—have a teenager who has, check out the assortment of buy-1-get-1-free options in today’s Target Daily Deals. Lace! Denim! Sequins! Zippers! Every possible monstrosity option is there, and they’re all cheap.

If you need some shoes to recover from leggings-pa-looza, this weekend Crocs is offering 30% off with coupon code DEALMAP30. Shipping is free with code secondchance, and both codes stack and work in the Outlet. And if Crocs aren’t your thing, well, there’s plenty on sale at 6pm.com, of course.

The One-Day Sale at Macy’s is on today—try to act surprised. Heh. If you prefer something a bit less fancy, hop on over to Sierra Trading Post and use coupon code ALVOCT2KX for 20% off your order.

This is kind of cool: Buy $30+ worth of LEGO from Meijer, and they’ll throw in a very cool lego big/playmat ($13 value) for free. Looks like the Lego is shipping for free, too. (Free item appears in your cart with qualifying purchase. Like magic.)

That should keep you busy for a little bit, and later we shall have this week’s winners and I’ll see if maybe we need to have a weekend contest. Depends on how much coffee I have, probably.

Girls’ fleece, without getting fleeced

[Insert standard "Old Navy, I wish I knew how to quit you" disclaimer here. You don't mind, do you?]

Take a look in the Girls’ Bargains section at Old Navy today and you’ll find a whole assortment of girls’ quarter-zip microfleece tops for just $5 apiece. There’s other bargains to be had as well, of course, but I love their microfleece and $5 a pop kind of stopped me in my tracks. (Looks like all patterns are well-stocked right now, too.) I guess we have to apologize to the boys, though; they can have fleece vests for $5 apiece, but no arms for them! Bad boys!

Save another 15% with coupon code ONTREAT, too. $4.25 for a fleece! I can’t get ‘em any cheaper than that at Goodwill.
