Friday deals

Good morning! The sun in shining, and I hear someone got married this morning. Which is an excellent excuse to consider a little shopping, right? Right!

The Amazon Friday Sale continues to be mostly coffee. I am not sure exactly how much coffee Amazon thinks we drink, but the answer appears to be “all of it.” But don’t worry—if you’re not a coffee drinker, they also have a ton of tea on sale. And if you’re not thirsty, don’t forget that this month’s selection of $5 MP3 albums is only available for a couple more days. Get your tunes before the price goes back up!

If you’d like to be Queen (or King) for the day, go shop at Banana Republic; coupon code BRKING30 will take 30% off your purchase today and tomorrow (2 days!), proving that even royalty are sometimes not good at math.

6pm.com is having an 80% off “garage sale” today; I tried to resist, I really did, but c’mon. 80% off? I’m only human.

Over in the Target Daily Deals, they’ve got some basic underwire bras available for 2 for $10 (buy one, get one free). They’re not the most exciting things I’ve ever seen, but $5 is hard to beat.

It looks like today’s special at Graveyard Mall is a 2-pack of cordless grinders (think Dremel, though I’m guessing this is a no-name brand) for $16 shipped. Hard to go wrong at that price point, even if they don’t last forever.

Also keep in mind that most (maybe all, but I’m too lazy to check…) of the Friends & Family deals I posted over the last couple of days are still going on. So there’s plenty of places to get a bargain today, if you’re so inclined.

Yet another F&F discount

I thought I posted this yesterday, but apparently I’m imagining things. (In case you’re wondering, I also imagined that I won the lottery and that my kids stopped bickering. It’s good to have dreams.)

Anyway, here you go: Through May 2nd, shop at Macy’s and use coupon code MACYSFF for 25% off most everything (10% off things like electronic and mattresses). Shipping on your $99+ order is always automatically free, too.

Hey, if Macy’s wants me to be part of their family, who am I to say no?

Grab a movie (or 5)

It’s hard to argue with just $1 for a Blockbuster Express movie rental, right? But really, why even pay $1 if you could pay less? Today you can grab a 5-movie Blockbuster Express Groupon for just $2. Five movies for $2? Why wouldn’t you grab that?

(By the way, yes, we have Netflix. But there’s always some movie that one of us is just dying to see that we want right then. It’s hard, being us.)

Get off the couch!

I remember when we first got our Wii, and we bowled and played baseball and I thought, “Well, this is awesome. The kids are up and moving. What a great invention!” And then we acquired a few of the Lego games, and my son plunked himself down on the couch to play. (Don’t get me wrong, they’re great games. But not as active.) Hmph.

If you’re hoping to get the kids back up again, maybe consider picking up Active Life: Explorer (with mat) today at Amazon for just $15. I guarantee the kids will get sweaty. In fact, I guarantee you will holler, “Is there a herd of elephants in there??” at least once, while they’re playing. You’ve been warned.

Another Friends & Family sale

I… am not really sure how stores decide when to have these friends/family sales, or when it was decided that, heck, we’re all friends and family! But somehow all the sales seem to be clustered together this year, and also, everyone’s invited. I have mixed feelings about this.

Nevertheless! If you didn’t get your retail F&F fill yesterday, you might want to visit Bon-Ton today—their Friends & Family sale is in full swing, and through May 1st that means coupon code FRIFAMAPR11 takes 25% off most things (but at least 10% off the rest). Combine those bonus savings with the pre-Mother’s Day Sale already happening, and there’s some real deals to be had.

Spend $50+ and you can try coupon code FREE50THANKU for free shipping, too.

Reminder: Sassy contest

Don’t forget—you have just until early tomorrow morning to enter to win some Sassy baby toys and an Elmo bag for your baby. Or for yourself. I don’t judge. And I doubt your baby really needs a tote bag.

Whatever.

The point is that you can’t win if you don’t enter, so if you haven’t left a comment yet, get to it.

As always, leave a comment on the contest post for an entry. Comments left on this post shall be reserved for discussion of the giant storm about to sweep through Georgia tonight and kill us all. Okay, it’s probably not going to kill us. But I have issues with tornado watches, okay?

Wii price drops are starting

If you’ve been on the fence about getting a Wii, now might be the time to bite—Amazon has the black Wii console bundle available for just $150 (with $4 shipping) from goHastings.

It was mentioned on the Want Not Facebook page (are you a fan yet?) that there are rumblings that Nintendo will be phasing out the Wii. I don’t think that’s necessarily a deterrent at this point; for one thing, the “replacement” system isn’t slated to debut for at least a year. For another, Nintendo has historically been mindful of not rendering their old technology obsolete in one fell swoop. I suspect the Wii’s successor will take Wii discs, even if the “new” games are somehow enhanced.

So, sure, if you’re committed to staying cutting-edge, you might want to wait. But I suspect most of us just enjoy having some games to play with our kids, or possibly working on our dance moves when no one is looking. Ahem.

Just boot it

Here’s another good Friends and Family deal for you—through May 2nd, 2011, take 40% off your entire purchase at Timberland with coupon code BFF11.

They sell more than boots, of course, but this is a great chance to get a hefty pair for way less than you’d be spending next winter.

Also, you have to love a company that lets you be their BFF.

Every little kid should have a red trike

Thanks to alert (and pretty) Want Not reader Jen for pointing out that Amazon has this adorable retro red tricycle available right now for just $26 shipped ($19.99 + $5.99 shipping, or buy more than one and get free shipping). That’s a great deal on a Kettler, plus look at it. It’s perfect! It even has a bell!

And yes, there’s nothing wrong with your eyes—according to the “More Buying Choices” column, you could, instead, pay $75 for the same bike from Right Start. But I’m sure the bell on that one is coated in platinum, or something.

It’s their biggest sale

In general I am opposed to any store claiming that it’s the “biggest sale of the season,” particularly when it’s a store that has sales all the darn time (*coughcoughKohlscoughcough*). Nevertheless, a sale’s a sale, no matter what they call it.

So sure, I’ll be checking it out over at JC Penney, today. Between the sale and available $10 off $25+ code CANTBEAT it’s entirely possible I’ll find something I need. Er, I mean, that the kids need.

Yeah, that’s the ticket.
