A very triumphant Friday

Hey, we made it to Friday! This is an auspicious day for my family, because today is my daughter’s last day of marching band camp. Band camp is incredibly grueling, and every day I received texts detailing how many people passed out on the field. But now that she’s made it through, she’s earned the right to start every other sentence with “This one time, at band camp…?” We’re so proud.

Perhaps you don’t have a kid in the marching band, in which case you probably need some deals for entertainment, instead. I can help.

Today and tomorrow, skip the store and shop Walgreens online; you can use coupon code FAMILY10 for $10 off your $50+ order (and all orders of $25+ ship for free). I’m going to knock out most of our school supply list with this one.

I think I’m finally giving up on the Amazon Friday Sale, but remember last Christmas when Babysitting Mama for the Wii was new and cool and expensive? Just $12.99 at Amazon, now, and I have to say I’m totally intrigued by the fact that you stuff the wiimote in the baby doll to play. Heh.

They’ve got all kinds of sales going on now at Macy’s, and you can use coupon code BRIGHT25 to take $25 off your $125+ order. Some brand restrictions apply, so you may have to play with it a little, but it does work on sales and clearance items.

Milk does a body good; go get your $1 off any white milk coupon for your next grocery run.

Shopping Lands’ End this weekend? Coupon code PARENTSA11 with PIN 8355 will give you free shipping on any order, plus an additional $10 off $50+. It looks like it might not count clearance items towards the $50, but does work with sale items.

Music to my ears: 6pm.com is offering free shipping on every order, today only. Shooooooes!

Happy shopping. Remind me to tell you about this one time, at band camp….

That’s more like it

To counteract the stroller deal from this morning (still chuckling and/or horrified by that?), I offer you two baby-themed Big Steals at Meijer for today: They have a Graco changing table for just $50 shipped, and a nice set of Avent bottles for just $16.50.

Big Steals always ship for free, and they only last from noon-noon, so these will be gone by lunchtime tomorrow.

Look at it this way: You could get six changing tables for what that “great” stroller deal would cost you. Hee.

Spend more, save more at Children’s Place

Geez, Children’s Place is just throwing one sale at us after another, right now. For the next four days, take 20% off your $40+ order with coupon code U4E2011, 25% off your $50+ order with coupon code T4E2011, or 30% off your $60+ order with coupon code R4E2011. Shipping is free on your $75+ order, otherwise it’s a flat $5.

And no, I’m not looking. I swear. I’m pretty sure I just placed an order there last week. Heh.

For your platinum baby

Let me start off with the caveat that I never spent a lot of money on strollers when my kids were little. It just wasn’t an item that I thought needed to be uber-fancy. But I get that for folks who live in cities and walk a lot, it may bear a bit more of an investment.

That said, I don’t know why this Micralite Toro stroller is normally around $500 dollars. Perhaps it feeds, burps, and changes the baby for you? It’s unclear. But today at Kids.Woot they have that stroller for $300. Which is still about $200 more than I ever spent on one.

But if that’s the stroller you’re dying to have, I’d certainly jump on getting it for 40% off, is all I’m saying.

Summer savings at American Eagle

I’m pretty sure I’m too old to shop there, but my teen seems to be developing an interest in American Eagle, which means I’m all over this one. For just two days, their clearance items are all being reduced an extra 40% when you add them to your cart.

Stack that with coupon code 92483511 for another 15% off, too.

Shipping is free on your $100+ purchase, or when you buy any jeans that aren’t on clearance. (They can be on sale, but not on clearance.) Did that all make your head hurt? Because it made mine hurt, a little. Still. I’m off to check it out.

$20 off new shoes? Yes, please!

Today there’s an available Groupon to Shoebuy where $20 gets you $40 to spend any time over the next year. While Shoebuy often runs coupons, there are always brand exclusions, and I’m not seeing anything that suggests there are similar restrictions on this Groupon.

That means you could use it on Merrells or other brands which are usually discount-proof. And that’s great news, because my husband and children are all masters of picking out the only shoes I don’t have a coupon for. Not that I’m bitter. Much.

Wii wish you an Epic Mickey bonus

If you’ve been wanting Epic Mickey for your Wii but haven’t found just the right deal, yet, today may be your lucky day. Right now Amazon is offering Epic Mickey for $29.99 and a free game with purchase, and this is one of those “while supplies last” ones, which means it won’t be around for long.

Granted, some of the bonus games are already ridiculously cheap (Hannah Montana the Movie game? oy), but I’ve heard incredible things about Guilty Party, which is currently $25, and they’ve got the Toy Story 3 game and the TRON: Evolution game and c’mon, for $30 all told to get both Epic Mickey and one of those, that’s pretty sweet.

Heck, even if you already have Epic Mickey, some of those bonus games are the first markdowns I’ve seen and come to under $20.

$5 off, just because you’re pretty

Remember Deep Discount? They used to be Deep Discount DVD, then they expanded to carry games and books and other stuff and became plain ol’ Deep Discount. Their shipping is slow and you need to cross-reference their prices with Amazon’s to make sure it’s a deal, but a lot of their prices are insanely low.

And now you can save $5 through about noon today—just use coupon code WERHERE5 on any purchase. Shipping is a buck, so you’ll essentially be getting $4 off and free shipping. But hurry if you want it, because you’ve only got a few hours.

And speaking of babies…

… I’ve got your deal on wee, teeny-tiny newborn diapers right here.

Caveat, for the uninitiated: I do not recommend stocking up on newborn size diapers ahead of time. A lot of babies outgrow them fast, and some never really fit into them at all. What newborn diapers are great for is small/preemie babies who really get swallowed up in the bigger diapers. That said, if you need the little diapers:

Amazon currently has newborn size “Little Snugglers” Huggies for $19.48/case. That comes down to just $13.64/case when you buy via Subscribe & Save and if you’re a member of Amazon Mom, and also there’s a $2 coupon to clip if coupons are available to you. That’s 84 diapers for just $11.64 shipped! A great deal if you need ‘em.

Er, if your baby needs them. I don’t think they’ll fit you. Or that you need diapers.

Shutting up, now.

Keeping baby from breaking the bank

The lovely and pretty Allison wrote to tell me that she and her husband are expecting their first baby. (Yayyyyy! I did a little dance of joy, because news of babies always makes me happy.) She says:

Since we are of the school of: I’d rather send you to college than break the bank on onesies and burp cloths – how do we go about outfitting baby/getting room together/getting all the “gear” that babies seem to require without hemorrhaging money? What is okay to buy used? What is most definitely not? Is there a list of must-haves that anyone can point me to? Are there common traps to avoid? Are there any reputable sites for product review/safety standards that I should familiarize myself with?

And finally, I am a lawyer. Where in the world do I find affordable office appropriate maternity wear?

The first thing I advised Allison to do was take a deep breath. Then I asked her if I could use her question here on the site. (Priorities: I have them.)

Let’s talk about this. (more…)
