There’s something about hand-stamped silver

Did someone say hand-stamped custom jewelry? Why, yes. I believe that Something About Silver did—right there in their inventory of various necklaces, bracelets, rings, keepsakes and more.

Choose the design that speaks to you. Maybe it’s the generations necklace, pictured here. Maybe it’s your kids’ birthstones and personalized charms with their names and/or birth dates. Maybe it’s the stacking rings, so you can wear them in various combinations depending on your mood.

I’m kind of smitten with the “I love you more” bracelet, possibly because my husband and I are terribly immature and any declaration of “I love you” is likely to be met with “I love you more.” Heh.

Anyway, my point is that they make beautiful things. And one lucky Want Not reader is going to win a $75 gift certificate to Something About Silver this week! Because the only thing better than pretty things is free pretty things.

Want to win it? Of course you do! First, go review the contest rules and regulations. Then come on back here and leave a comment on this post by 8:00 a.m. Eastern (that’s 5:00 a.m. Pacific) on Thursday, November 3rd, 2011 telling me what you’d buy if you won. I’ll use my handy-dandy random number picker plugin doohickey to choose the winner.

What are you waiting for? Go!

Winner of the Uncommon Goods contest

Last week hundreds of you vied for a chance to win some wine-themed goodies from Uncommon Goods, and in the end my automated winner-picker-thingie (yes, that’s the technical term) decided to stay low. Congratulations to commenter 12, Heather! You’ve won all three wine-themed gifts from Uncommon Goods!

Big thanks to all who played, and special thanks to Uncommon Goods for supplying the fabulous prizes. I feel 57% cooler with a platter made from a recycled wine bottle (truth).

Didn’t win this one? Don’t be sad! I have another chance to win something awesome coming right up….

Seriously, that’s the name of the promotion going on at Clinique, today, and how can I resist something telling me to pick my pretty? I can’t. Probably you can’t, either.

Today only, spend $21.50 on anything and you can pick six minis—one for every “area”—to go into a pretty silver pouch that’s your free bonus. You’ll get free shipping on your entire order, too. That’s extremely pretty!

Buy 2, get 1, be a hero 3 times

If you’re starting to think about new video games for the holidays, check out the Buy 2, Get 1 Free deals going on right now at Amazon. This is a great way to score a deal if you’re in stock-up mode, particularly if you pick three games at the same (or close to the same) price.

If your family will be getting a new console in a couple of months, or if your kids (like mine) believe the sun rotates around a large Nintendo DS, don’t miss this one.

The $5 sale is back!

It’s the mooooost wonderfuuuuuul tiiiiiime of the yeeeear! (Yeah, I know. I’m stepping slowly away from the coffee, now.)

The $5 Sale is back at Taste of Home!

I regularly stock my gift closet during this sale. Sure, most of the items are cookbooks—great cookbooks, actually (wonderful teacher/hostess gifts!)—but there’s also children’s items, a $35 Do-It-Yourself manual that would be a great housewarming gift, and more. At just $5/pop and over 100 options, I bet you’ll see something you can use.

Spend $20+ (that’s just 4 items) and you can use coupon code 401 for free shipping on your entire order. $20 delivered for 4 gifts? Don’t you look pretty today!

Because the dog always needs food

It’s true, I talk here quite a bit about buying more expensive food for your beloved pets (my own spoiled pooch gets premium stuff that seems impossibly expensive, but she’s both a delicate flower with allergies and my favorite child, so there it is), but I know that some people are perfectly happy with “regular” dog food. I also know that our local rescue groups can always use food donations.

So—if you’re able to see/use Amazon coupons—you should be able to see this $1 off Iams coupon which will then show you which foods it’s eligible to be used on. While many of the eligible foods are are pretty standard prices, there’s also a handful of foods which are currently on clearance. For example, 5.5 pounds of Premium Protection Puppy (that sounds like the dog’s secret agent name rather than her food…) is down to just $5.36, or just $4.36 after coupon (ships free with Prime). Even if you don’t need it for your dog, I bet there’s an animal agency near you that would love the donation.

(This post brought to you as penance for the fact that we will be dressing Licorice up as a squirrel tonight.)

Outerwear savings (and more)

I swear, every single time I go shop over at Sierra Trading Post I go, “Wow, I love this place! Why don’t I shop here more often?” And no, I don’t have an answer. I just seem to forget they’re there, sometimes.

So! Today they have several great offers you can combine to save big. First: Until 2:00 this afternoon, you can use coupon code SITETOBER1011 to save an additional 25% on your $100+ order. Second: Look for the “Steal a Deal” graphic to find items marked down an additional 30%—there’s a ton of outerwear in there, all brand names and awesome prices. Third: They’re now doing a referral program, and if you refer a new shopper, they get a $10 discount, and if they buy something, you get $10, too. Might be worth considering.

And then don’t forget to think, “Wow, I love this place! Why don’t I shop here more often?” when you’re all done.

Who doesn’t want to be Clean and Clear?

Let’s not discuss acne. Let’s especially not discuss how after a certain age, the acne doesn’t go away, it just starts to settle into your wrinkles. Ahem.

So, um, maybe you’d like to get the Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Control Kit from Amazon for your teenager. Yeah, that’s it. Why not? It’s currently down to just $10.17 when you buy it via Subscribe & Save, and then if you get coupons from Amazon (some states don’t, remember), scrolling down a bit on the product page will show you a $3 off coupon to clip, making it just over $7 to your door.

Score! And clearer skin, too. For… whomever.

Okay, this one is a real (iTunes) deal

To make up that last post to you (but c’mon! that was hilarious!), here’s an actual deal:

Today only, Best Buy is offering 15% off iTunes cards, plus they ship for free. If you use iTunes a lot—or have a sullen teen, because this is their preferred currency—this is a deal to snag. You’re going to buy them anyway; may as well save a little!

A not-so-subtle hint

Maybe it’s because I slept late and I’m not fully through my coffee, but I can’t stop laughing at today’s Target Daily Deals.

What a wonderful gift for the man you love: A great price on a Mangroomer Do-It-Yourself Back Shaver.

Mmmmmmph.
