All is calm, all is tuneful

Merry Christmas Eve Day, my friends! I hope that whatever holiday you celebrate (or don’t), you’re doing something fun with people you love, today.

Today’s Amazon Gold Box is filled with ten of the year’s top album downloads for just $3.99 apiece. So if you need a little Rihanna to break up your Silent Night or whatever, there you go.

Christmas clearance, before Christmas

No need to wait until next week to start scooping up the post-holiday sales—Home Depot has plenty of their holiday merchandise on clearance already!

Check out this 7.5 foot prelit Wesley Pine Christmas Tree that’s half off, if you’re in the market for a new fake tree. It’s just $59.50, and then coupon code PICKUP takes an additional $5 off any $50+. Shipping is free.

There’s other trees and various holiday stuff on sale as well, but that’s a pretty sweet deal on a 1,000-tip tree if you’re hoping to snag one.

Saving money vs. saving sanity

Oh man, I love this. The very pretty Sarah just wrote the following to me:

I realize that you probably have a TON of time between now and Christmas to sit around and reply to your readers (have I mentioned that you are VERY pretty?), but I was wondering if you could answer a quick question for me.

With Christmas nearing and the arrival of 16 family members and 8 children looming (where the heck are we gonna stick all these people??), my washing machine decides that it is time to die. This happens the day after both kids and I decided to start feeling better from the cold we have had for the last week and the day after my husband arrives home after a week long work trip. Needless to say, I have laundry coming out of my ears. Here’s my question….do I use a neighbors washer and wait until after Christmas for a good deal or do I run out to Sears and pick one up today? I am unsure if washers and dryers go on sale after Christmas. Do they have amazing deals on sets like on Black Friday? In your opinion, can I save enough money by waiting that would make it worthwhile?

If you get a chance, let me know what you think. If not, NO WORRIES!! Wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday and a long life to your washing machine!!

To clarify, I do not love that poor Sarah’s washing machine chose this moment to die. I just love that she wrote to me about it, and also that this is—to me—kind of the crux of this whole money-saving thing. Let me explain. (more…)

Bite his nose. BITE HIS NOSE!

I can’t stop laughing.

You have to check out the Petprojekt boutique at Fab.com today if you have a dog.

I just bought Licorice a set of Squeeki Tikis, mostly because they made me laugh. And really, what dog doesn’t want to chew on some tikis and the Easter Island Moais? Exactly.

(Yes, they have other stuff, too. But! Squeeki Tikis!)

For your New Year’s resolution

I know; Christmas hasn’t even happened yet, but surely you’re already thinking about all of the dessert-justifying you’re doing now with silent promises to eat healthier in the new year. Or… maybe that’s just me. (Mea culpa—there was gluten-free cheesecake at dinner last night. Like I was going to turn that down?)

Anyway. If you’ve been thinking about buying a juicer, check out today’s Deal of the Day at Best Buy, which just happens to be a refurbished Cuisinart CJE-1000 1000-Watt 5-Speed Juice Extractor for just $59.99 and free shipping. For comparison, this machine gets great reviews and is around $150 new from Amazon, so this is quite the bargain if you’re in the market.

Now the only question is: Does it count as eating healthy if you put the cheesecake in the juicer?

Time for a gift for you

Again, this isn’t going to help you before Christmas, but maybe as you relax with the satisfaction of a job well done, you’d like to take advantage of 40% off at American Eagle and Aerie with coupon code 39427841.

For some reason Aerie Undies are excluded from this promo, though, which makes me cranky. Hmph.

Get your Discovery on

Listen, if you’re not done shopping for Christmas by now, chances are I can’t really help you. But you’re so pretty and smart I’m sure you’ve taken care of all of that. Now you’ve moved on to shopping for birthdays and whatever else.

Should you feel like shopping today, you have the rest of the day (Friday, December 23rd) to save 25% on just about anything at the Discovery Channel Store with coupon code 25OFF.

Me, this is the time of year where I start seriously debating with myself about whether or not we need a set of Mythbusters bobbleheads. Don’t judge me.

You can always use boots

(Okay, technically the title of this post is a lie. Probably if it’s the middle of the summer, you don’t need boots. This is what we call “creative license.” Just go with it.)

Honestly, I think I’m talking to myself a little, today. Everyone is busy going over the river and through the woods, or at least turning around for the fifteenth time and saying to the kids, “Bored? Really? I can certainly find you something to do if that’s the case….”

But if you’re here, and if you’re not all shopped out, you might be interested in knowing that you can take an additional 25% off already-reduced sale boots over at Endless with coupon code BOOTSALE. You can even get ‘em before Christmas, if you order in the next few hours and opt for overnight shipping.

Just, uh, don’t tell 6pm I was looking at Endless. It’s not cheating if I’m just looking, baby.

We wish you a merry gigantoTV

Some of you may remember that a few Christmases ago I took the plunge and finally bought the family a HDTV, and lo, there was much rejoicing. (Much of it in the form of, “Whoa! Mario Kart is huge now!”) Apparently my children believe that the virgin birth is an okay miracle, and all, but it really can’t hold a candle to a big flat screen. (I know, I know. My darling little heathens.)

Anyway, if you have a last-minute hankering for a similarly gihugic (totally a word) surprise for your family, this morning I found that Best Buy has a 55″ Toshiba 1080p HDTV available for just $800 with free shipping. I just thought I’d check over at Amazon, too, and it turns out that they’re matching Best Buy’s price (make sure you select Amazon from the “More Buying Choices” sidebar on the right), so if you live in a state where Amazon doesn’t charge you sales tax, that’s an even better deal (and if you have Prime, you could pay the $3.99 to have it by tomorrow).

Now: reviews on this particular set are overwhelmingly positive at Best Buy, but more mixed at Amazon. Read through and decide if you’re willing to take the chance. Given the ridiculously low price for a set of this size, and the warranty coverage you’ll get from either seller, it may be a chance worth taking.

6pm to the procrastinator’s rescue!

Still need a gift or two in time for Christmas? Never fear, you still have today to order from 6pm.com and get it shipped for free and in time. Just spend $50+, order before 1:00 p.m. PST, and it’ll ship overnight for free.

Lest you think “But I don’t want to give everyone shoes!”, remember that 6pm also carried clothing, accessories, and even some toys and housewares. And if you’re still short on a few gifts, it’s hard to put a price on that free overnight shipping vs. having to hit the mall with the masses.
