Finding a case for your new iPhone

Last month I shared that we finally upgraded our iPhones, thanks to a deal between the price at Best Buy and the buy-back on our old phones at Gazelle. What I didn’t share was that when we ran over to Best Buy to pick up our phones, I made the mistake of looking at cases there.

I started doing that high-pitched, slightly-hysterical “no, really, who is paying these prices??” laugh as I surveyed the rack. I think my husband was a little bit embarrassed. (Such is the price of being married to me.)

Eventually I found myself a nice case at Fab, which I bought with credit I had, but if you’re looking for a cheap yet sturdy case, I have two suggestions:

First, this case in black is just $4.95 shipped at Amazon if you have Prime. Other colors vary in cost, though they’re all pretty affordable. At 4.5 stars with over 600 reviews, I’d say that case will certainly do.

Second, if you want something a little fancier, right now Tanga has an iPhone 5 case boutique running with over 20 options, all priced for regular humans (unlike the $40 cases at Best Buy).

Your iPhone shouldn’t be naked. But neither should you need to sell a body part to protect it.

  1. We have a fun store here called Five Below, where all the phone cases are $5 or less. I got my stepdaughter an iPhone 5 case for Xmas, and my sister one for her birthday.

The website shows a few locations in Georgia…

  2. The price will leave you in need of smelling salts, but my former phone-destroying adult offspring swear by LifeProof cases. So that is what my other daughter and I got when we got our iPhones (My Precious) last month. DD spends a lot of time at the pool, and her phone could fall in and still be safe. I love that I can answer a call while in the middle of cooking something messy, and then just wash the phone off.

  3. Amazon has a pretty good deal on Otter Boxes, especially if you still have a 4/4s. I think I paid around $15.00 with free Prime shipping.
