And now for something completely blendy

I know nothing about this blender, other than that it’s made by the Ninja Kitchen people, and you know how much I love my Ninja cooker. Wait, I lied—I also know that the retail price is $170.

But right now at Amazon, the Ninja Extreme Kitchen System Pulse Blender with Accessories (in red! pretty!) is just $150 shipped.

Now: Is that a tad spendy for a blender? I think so, unless you’re going whole hog and buying a professional model like a Vitamix or a Blendtec. But this particular blender isn’t just a blender; I am giggling over them calling it an “extreme kitchen system,” of course, but it is a blender as well as a food processor, plus it comes with a couple of blend-and-go cups if you want to run out the door with your smoothie. And this machine runs on a 700 watt motor, which should be sufficient for anything you might need to throw at it. (Please note: Do not actually throw things at your blender.)

If you just need a blender, I stand by my previous recommendation for a KitchenAid as the best intersection of price and functionality. (Mine has been running strong for two years of constant use, and I got it for under $70, shipped.) But if you need a blender and you don’t have a food processor, I could see this being a good compromise with one machine instead of two… and in that case, the price becomes a lot more reasonable.

  1. I am in the market for a blender and am curious if you bought a refurbished Kitchen Aid?

  2. Janet, yes, if you go back to my blender post linked in this post, I did indeed grab a refurb and two years later it’s still going strong! I love it.

  3. FWIW, the Ninja blender (just the blender, not the blender/food processor combo) is the match of the Vitamix level blenders in our experience — it can blend or juice ANYTHING. Very, very powerful. We love ours, and I’m still eyeing that Ninja cooker!

  4. Wow! If I didn’t already have a Vitamix and a food processor I would be all over this just for the counter space it would save. If only this had been out a year ago….sigh.

  5. Deb, that’s good to know about the blender, thanks!

  6. not sure it’s quite as good as the fancier ones, if you want to blend kale for example. but i love mine. rarely use accessories but got at costco for $100.
