I know that every kid has a phone and a tablet and a hundred ways to take a photo without owning an actual camera, but still, I think a kid interested in how cameras work and building things themselves would be intrigued with a DIY kit. At least, that’s what I thought when I saw today’s Kids.Woot‘s offering—an Elenco Bigshot DIY camera kit. Woot is offering it for $60 + $5 shipping and claiming that’s 66% off, so I went to check the price on Amazon; it’s currently $105 over there, so 66% off is a stretch, but it’s still a decent price.

I especially like that it’s got a rotating wheel of lenses on the front. What a cool way to learn a little about optics while you think you’re just fooling around.
