Toys on your list?

Alright, let’s talk deal fatigue. It’s around this time of year that any 99% off!! sign screaming in my face fails to elicit even a cursory glance. It feels like everything has been on sale for forever and it all starts to blur together. I get it. You have to learn how to (quickly) suss out which deals are worth checking out.

For example, today in the Amazon Gold Box, one of the “Daily Deals” boasts “Save up to 30% on toys from Transformers, Little Live Pets, WWE, and more.” And my immediate reaction was basically “Who cares?”

1) I don’t particularly care for any of those toy lines (nor did my kids when they were little),
and
2) 30% off is for amateurs.

However, when you actually click through on that particular deal (which you might not do if you had that reaction and you weren’t me), you’ll quickly discover discounts much deeper than 30%—perhaps they mean it’s an additional 30% off?—and also tons of brands not mentioned in the title. Like, hello, Paw Patrol is a huge favorite of most little kids I know, and Skye’s Rocket Ship for under $6 is not only way more than 30% off, that’s actually a really good deal on a hot toy. And $9 for this Charizard card binder or $6 for this Pokemon X and Y one are the lowest price they’ve ever been, and any Pokemon fan with a card collection would be delighted with one of them.

Stuff like that. Moral of the story: Push through the fatigue. The deals are still out there!

  3. 30% off is for amateurs could totally be your tag line, lol. It’s popped up in my head frequently since I’ve read this. 😄
