My name is Mir, and I… I… I’m an office supplyaholic. I particularly like writing implements—I have an overflowing mug of pens, pencils, highlighters, and the like. And some in my desk. And some backups on my supply shelves. Plus sometimes I raid my husband’s desk.
I may have a problem, is what I’m saying.
But you, you don’t have a problem. In fact, all of your pen and pencil problems are about to solved. Why? Because you’re about to have a shot at winning a grab bag of goodies from Zebra Pen. It’s got a pack of Cadoozles (fun mechanical pencils for the kids) and an original F301 and a compact F301 and a bunch of Z-Grips and a whole mess of pens and pencils from their new Zebra Eco line, which are made from recycled materials and fairy wings. (Okay, maybe not the fairy wings part….) I have two packages of Zebra pens and pencils to give away, each containing around 20 items.
Do you feel the office supply love? Does nothing thrill you more than a fresh pen? Do your children keep taking your pencils? This could be the contest for you! To enter for a chance to win, simply leave a comment on this post by 3:00 p.m. Eastern time (noon Pacific) on Wednesday, October 1st, 2008. One comment per person, please; valid email address required. Winners to be determined by random number generation and penmanship (obviously).
Ready? Go!

Okay, so, would that be a breakfast for penguins? Or a breakfast of penguins (eewwwwwww)? I’m not sure.
Regardless, 330 of you were up for winning either the latest 3-2-1 Penguins movie or a Starbucks gift card, and the random number generator has made me feel all warm and fuzzy, this morning. It’s true. Check this out:
When I have a contest where you have to choose a prize, I generate the numbers one by one. The first number wins, obviously. Then the next number only wins if that person’s chosen prize is still available; otherwise, I generate another number, and so on. (Evidently I like to make things as complex as possible.) So for this contest, I brought up my trusty random number generator this morning and got to work.
The first number it produced was 123, and that means Jodi wins a DVD! Congratulations, Jodi!
The second number it produced was 169, and here’s where it gets good—Ace1234 said this:
I was going to ask for a 3-2-1 Penguins show, but if my number comes up, please use it to give Jen (#165 in Houston) the Starbucks card. yikes! Hugs to you and everyone digging out from Ike!
And you know what? I was very touched by that. So I’m going to deviate from the protocol just a little bit, on account of people being kind make me all mushy inside. Ace1234 is still going to win a DVD, but at her suggestion, I am also going to just go ahead and give the Starbucks card to Jen, commenter 165. (Jen, be sure to thank Ace1234.) Now everyone hug and check their email! Who wants to sing Kumbaya?
Many thanks to all who played, and also to our pals at Special Ops (for the DVDs) and Edelman (for the Starbucks card).
Another contest is coming up later on, and I promise that it has all the write stuff. Ooops! I’ve said too much!

I know how y’all love the contests here, so I figured you’d want to know if I was running a contest someplace else, too.
Go check it out—there’s a couple of $60 Teddy Ruxpin packages to be won.

It’s contest time, and today I am combining two things which have nothing to do with one another, because, um, well, because they’re both sitting here on my desk. Also because I never want it to be said that I didn’t provide something for everyone. Yes. That too.
First up we have two copies of 3-2-1 Penguins: Save the Planets! If you’re not familiar with 3-2-1 Penguins, they’re from Big Idea (the same folks who do Veggie Tales), so that should give you some sense of what they’re about. Good fun, great animation, etc. Do you want to win one of these DVDs?
But wait! Don’t answer yet, because the other thing I have here is a $10 gift card for Starbucks. Strictly speaking, you don’t have to use it for breakfast—I mean, it’s not like the Starbucks police will come after you if you use it for afternoon lattes, instead—but this came to me as part of a promotion for their new breakfast items, so you might want to check out their oatmeal, fruit stella, and muffins. Just sayin’.
I have one gift card and two movies. You need to tell me which one you’d like to get. For a chance to win, simply leave a comment on this post by 11:59 p.m. Eastern (8:59 p.m. Pacific) on Sunday, September 28th, 2008, telling me which one you want. Valid email address required. One entry per person. Entries which do not pick one item to receive will be disqualified. Winners will be determined by random number generation and happy feet. Oh, wait—wrong penguin movie. Nevermind. I need more coffee.
Go!

Most of you were very good at following the directions to enter the contest for What’s a Dame to do? Only one person had to be taunted, and I’ll confess that I did it half-heartedly.
Regardless, over 300 of you were vying for three games, so there are going to be just a few of you who are disappointed. I’m sorry. On the up side, you’re looking very fetching today. The random number generator has chosen three winners, and here they are: Congratulations to Linda (commenter 300), Susie (commenter 7), and Gretchen (commenter 194)! Please check your email, ladies, so that we can get your prizes out to you!
Big thanks to all who entered, and enormous thanks to the awesome folks at Games for Dames, who not only were kind enough to donate the prizes, they’re also extending a special discount to Want Not readers! Place your order for What’s a Dame to do? by September 28th, 2008, and you can use code wantnot to save an additional 20%. Very, very cool. I would totally invite those people to Girls’ Night Out.
Didn’t win this time? Don’t panic! There’s always more contests coming up. But please do consider this your reminder that you need a night off. You’ve earned it.

Don’t forget! You’ve got just about an hour left to get your entry in for the contest to win What’s a Dame to Do?. You’ll be a very popular gal on Girls’ Night Out with this one, I bet.
So go! Enter! On that post, not this one. If you enter on this one I have to taunt you, and that’s fun for me but doesn’t win you anything.

Hey, I’m not going to get all political on you, here, but there are a few inalienable rights in which I believe. And without getting into each and every one of them, I’m just going to say that as a woman, as much as I do love the menfolk (and I do, truly!), sometimes, you just need a bonding night with the girls. Am I right? (Of course I am. Don’t even try disagreeing.)
While an outing to the movie theater can be a good way to spend Girls’ Night, I actually prefer a night at someone’s house, preferably playing games and drinking wine. Maybe not even in that order. So you can, perhaps, imagine my excitement when I discovered What’s a Dame to do?, the hilarious party game where you try to guess the other players’ reactions to difficult situations. Can’t you see how an evening with your best gal pals and this game could be just what you need? Of course you can.
What’s a Dame to do? Retails for $34 plus shipping, but three lucky Want Not readers are going to win themselves this game just because they’re pretty. And if the random number generator picks them. Want to win it? Simply leave a comment on this post by 3:00 p.m. Eastern (noon Pacific) on Wednesday, September 24th, 2008. One comment per person, valid email address required, offers to buy me a nice wine will not increase your chances of winning but since when is flattery and sucking up a bad thing? Ahem. Winners to be determined by random number generation and grace under pressure.

Plenty of you are in the market for free diapers, it seems. Sadly, we can only have three winners for this one, but at least three of you are going to be happy.
The random number generator has selected: Ashlee (commenter 305), Kristin (commenter 97), and Mary (commenter 21). Congratulations, ladies! You’ll be receiving one package of Pampers Swaddlers, as well as a coupon for a second package. Please check your email!
Thanks to all who played, and a special thanks to the folks at Pampers PR for the generous donations.
Didn’t win this time? Don’t fret; more contests are on the way.

Back when my children were babies—you know, somewhere in the Pleistocene Era—pretty much you could buy Pampers or you could buy Huggies or you could buy a store generic, and that was that. There weren’t different varieties within brands. If you had a baby with sensitive skin you needed to use cloth diapers and if your three choices at the store didn’t work well for your family, well, too bad.
Nowadays, of course, there’s so many disposable diaper varieties it’ll make your head spin. But the same folks I trusted lo those many years ago to contain my babies are looking to spread the word, and that’s where we come in: Meet Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive, a diaper so high-tech it does everything but change itself. There’s even a strip on the front that turns blue when baby’s wet!
What’s better than awesome diapers? Awesome free diapers! Three lucky Want Not readers are going to win a package of Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive in the size of their choosing, plus a coupon redeemable for another free package at the store.
Want to win? Simply leave a comment on this post by 3:00 p.m. Eastern (noon Pacific) on Wednesday, September 17th. One comment per person, valid email address required, stories of your precious baby’s exploding diaper exploits are not necessary, thanks. Winners to be determined by random number generation and wetness indicator.

Hey, three of you won DVDs this weekend, just for being pretty. (And for being on the internet on a Sunday, and following directions, and getting lucky. Details!) I had three DVDs up for grabs and now they’re going to new, better homes.
Our three winners are Amie W (commenter 7), Kimberly (commenter 114), and Nancy S (commenter 38). Congratulations, ladies! Please check your email!
Thanks to all who played, and a special thanks to my pals at Special Ops Media for donating the prizes.
Later on today we’ll have another contest that you won’t want to miss if you have a baby in the house. Just sayin’.
