If you’re grabbing something at Amazon…

… why not throw this 12-pack of creamed corn in your cart (it’s an add-on item at just $3.96)? I like to add it to homemade cornbread batter (yum), but it’s a perfect Food Pantry donation item, too. The price is a no-brainer. I’m going to get a couple to donate and probably one for us so that I can listen to my teenagers complain for the next six months that “the pantry is full of corn!”

[Edited to add: Well, that was fast. Seems like it’s gone now Argh.]

It’s March, so score an Amazon bonus

Spring ahead, and then get yourself $10 to spend at Amazon for no reason other than it’s the promotion they’re running this month. It’s easy—just go buy a total of $50 in gift cards, apply coupon code 0315GCARDS, and you’ll receive a $10 promotional code in your email.

If you have gifts to buy, perfect! If you don’t have any gifts to buy, well, you can always use your own cards, and if you shop at Amazon as often as I do, it’s a deal worth doing just for the bonus.

[Edited to add: You must be signed in to your Amazon account for this promotion to work. Also it looks like only some people are eligible and I don’t know why, but try it. It worked for me.]

Amazon raising the price of Prime: Save now!

Amazon continues to make Prime a little less awesome (boohoo!)—starting mid-April, the yearly cost of Prime membership will be increasing from $79/year to $99/year.

Personally, I will continue to pay for Prime, because I figure it’s saved me well beyond that $100 each year. That’s not going to stop me from grumbling a little, though. As one does.

Here’s the good news, though: If you’ve been thinking about getting Prime, well, now would be a great time to sign up, before the price increase, obviously. And the better news is that if you have Prime already and your renewal date is past mid-April, here’s how to get one more year at the old rate! Just go purchase a Prime gift subscription for yourself (you can use the same email addy, even) and set the gifting date as the day after your current subscription expires. Then turn off your auto-renew. Voila, you’ll automagically get an email about your gift on the day you specify, and then you can turn your auto-renew back on (if you like), and you’ve saved $20.

Luring you into Amazon Mom

If you’re not yet a member of Amazon Mom, Amazon is really hoping to lure you into signing up, right now. In addition to giving you three free months of Prime (if you haven’t done a Prime trial before), signing up now will also allow you to use coupon code BABYTIME for $25 off your first diaper purchase after joining.

So… Prime costs $79/year, or about $6.58/month. Between the three free months and the diaper coupon, it’s like you’re saving about $45. And if you don’t actually want to pay for Prime, that’s fine—just cancel it before your three free months are up. I’ll confess, though, that I finally went to the dark side and now pay for Prime; the extra 20% off my Subscribe & Save items has definitely made it worth it, to me.

Also: Both new and existing Amazon Mom members can check out their current Toy Sale Event and use coupon code TOYS2013 to save an additional 20% on eligible items.
