Good morning! It’s a beautiful day here at my house, not the least of which because my beautiful children are still asleep. Now that’s what I’m talking about, Saturday.
Here’s some deals you won’t want to miss this weekend:
It’s Restaurant.com time again! Through November 10th, 2008, use coupon code PRESENT to save 60% on your purchase. That’ll get you a $25 dining certificate for just $4, and if that doesn’t sound good to you, well, I think you’re on the wrong website.
This weekend at Overstock, you can take $20 off your $400+ order, which might be useful if you’re planning a larger purchase. Overstock has also brought back their Toys For Tots Store, where you can shop their bargains for toys to be donated directly to this very worthy cause. Do check it out; it’s one of my favorite holiday features anywhere, that they offer this.
It’s time for the semi-annual sale blowout at Deep Discount! Through November 24th, 2008, use coupon code DDAF to save 25% on your entire purchase. Shipping is always free, and this is the time to buy those DVDs and CDs to fill stockings, or that box set you’ve had your eye on.
Feeling chilly? Outerwear’s on sale at Old Navy this week.
Here’s a great deal on infant diapers: Through Amazon, DAB Nutrition is offering a box of 264 1-2 Huggies for $17.65 plus $6.95 shipping. The shipping is the same for two boxes, which then works out to less than $22/box.
That should keep you busy for a while. Or in diapers for a while. Either way.

Well I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling like this is the end of a verrrrrry long week. (A good week, but a long one.) A little bit of retail therapy will wind things up nicely, I think.
Let’s see what the Amazon Friday Sale has in store for us today!
I don’t know if this is going to be a new Friday Sale tradition, or what, but I am digging the proliferation of over-the-top party sandals. Because you never know when you’ll need some fuchsia snakeskin shoes, people. (But at $34.49 for Charles David, I’m not arguing.)
There are some great digital picture frame options in the electronics section—your best quality-to-savings ratios are going to be with either the Philips 7-inch metal frame ($89.99) or the Philips 10.2-inch white frame ($139.99). Remember: You can certainly get cheaper frames, but the quality does suffer on the lower end. Philips is generally considered the top-of-the-line in this technology.
It’s that time of year again—time to break out the cheap flannel sheets!
I love the idea of a pair of storage ottomans like this, for just under $50. One for each kid! I mean, one to put each kid in. Erm, I mean, one for each kid to put their stuff in. Maybe.
This is a great price on a 3-cup Cuisinart processor ($44.99 shipped), and is a good choice if you want the smaller model. (If you have more than a couple of people, I’d suggest holding out for the larger one.)
Real silverware, just kid-sized! That one’s a great baby gift, by the way… and at $10.99 you really can’t go wrong. If you have a bunch of baby showers coming up, buy a few and tuck ‘em away.
Amazon is launching a new feature today, too, which is the 4-Day Baby Super Sale, in case you need other baby items. Those deals will be around all weekend, of course.
And something extra super wonderful has happened in the Amazon Friday Five, today. One of the five available albums is the soundtrack to Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog! I don’t think I’d be going too far out on a limb if I called that a rather awesometastic way to end the week. (That is totally a word. Is too.)
Have a great day, everyone!

Through November 10th, 2008, you can take 20% off of any one regularly-priced item at Domestications with coupon code D8N20AFF.
They have all sorts of things, and of course you’d maximize the savings buy buying an entire bed set, or something, but I can give you one personal recommendation: Their fleece blankets for $19.99 any size (and that’s the regular price, so the coupon would work on those) are quite nice. That’s what we use in the winter under quilts to stay toasty. (I probably wouldn’t buy a twin, at that price, but that’s a bargain for a queen or a king.)

When my oldest was little, we play Chutes and Ladders and Candyland, and pretty much all she learned was that board games are supposed to go on indefinitely, until Mama’s head explodes. Fun!
Thankfully, now there are lots of other options for games your preschooler can play, and one of the new popular game lines is Noodleboro by Playskool. These are games designed to be fun for little ones, yes, but also to teach them valuable things other than that sometimes Mama’s eyes start to glaze over.
Right now at Amazon, several Noodleboro games are marked way down:
Noodleboro Pizza Palace Listening Game is just $9.99 (50% off),
Noodleboro Picnic Basket Manners Game is also $9.99 (50% off),
And the Noodleboro Fun Park Sharing Game is only $9.62 (62% off).
All are free shipping eligible and all qualify for the $25+ worth of toys getting you two free years of Cookie magazine (which is then redeemable for a $15 rebate, if you’d rather).
Check ‘em out. Because the road to hell is paved with Candyland, people. I’m just trying to help.

Don’t forget to check the LL Bean Thursday Morning Markdown! Today’s item is a men’s tropicwear shirt for $19.95. (This is that magic keep-you-cool fabric that’s perfect for sun protection.) They have Tall sizes, even, for the same price.
Use code 3005872 to ship your order for free, too.

Been meaning to try a home-whitening system, but haven’t found the bargain that sealed the deal for you? Today may just be your lucky today.
Drugstore.com is offering a 56-count of Crest Whitestrips
for just $14.99 with this instant coupon (if I did the link right, it should land you on a page where it shows as $17.99, but will reduce in your cart). Shipping is free on this item for a limited time, as well.
I was just at the dentist a couple of weeks ago, and they told me this is the system they recommend to all of their patients. I pointed out that I have sensitive teeth and so am afraid to use a whitener, and my dentist told me to go ahead and try them, but to coat my teeth with Sensodyne afterward (like, right before I go to bed). I’m going to try it, I think.
And also leave you with the mental image of my teeth smeared in toothpaste overnight. Sorry about that.

November 5, 2008 | Contests
Hooray! Hundreds of you tossed your hats into the ring when faced with the chance to win either a U.B. Funkeys Starter Kit or a Girl Tech Stylin’ Studio, and I quite enjoyed the enthusiastic response. (Also, I now have a ring full of hats. I am all set for the next bad hair day.)
Unfortunately, only two of you are walking away triumphant, but those two will have one less present to buy this holiday season, at least. And so, without further ado….
The winner of the Stylin’ Studio is commenter 160, Angela! And the winner of the U.B. Funkeys Kit is commenter 39, Toni! Congratulations, ladies, and please check your email. (Despite my generous nature, my powers of ESP are lousy, so I will need your mailing addresses.)
Many thanks to all who played, and big thanks to Mattel for donating the prizes.
Didn’t win this time? Don’t fret! Another chance to win is coming up soon!

weren’t we talking about heaters, recently? Yes, we were.
Several of the articles I read about the “right” places to use heaters specifically mention getting something to use in the bathroom, as you can always layer up elsewhere in the house, but there’s nothing quite like the horribleness of taking a shower in a very cold room (brrrrr). So today I did some digging around and found this DeLonghi heater at Buy.com for $72.99 shipped.
It’s a bit more expensive than a bargain-basement ceramic heater (though still a significant savings over Amazon, where you should go read the many positive reviews), but it has two huge advantages for bathroom use: First, the skinny design is optimal for cramped spaces; and second, it’s water resistant, so you can rest easy about setting it near the shower. (Plus it’s just plain cool-looking and wall-mountable, too.)
Just pointing it out as a good option, if you’re thinking space heaters.

Okay, I feel a little funny mentioning this deal the day after the election, but I trust y’all to play nice….
Swiss Army knives can be a great stocking stuffer for scouts (and others), and if you have multiple folks to buy for, this deal may be for you.
Right now Amazon is running a promotion on Swiss Army items—buy $50+ worth, and you’ll save $10 instantly at checkout (no coupon needed). Most of these items are already marked way down, but the real savings are if you’re buying multipacks.
For example, this three-pack is already marked down to just $23.53, and this two-pack is just $15.43. Or this Trekker and classic knife combo is $21.99. Mix and match to get up to $50 and you could be saving big bucks.
But then you’ll also have a lot of knives. So, um, be careful.

Don’t forget! You have just a few more hours to enter the contest to win a great Mattel computer toy of your choosing!
Let’s go over it one more time. You need to:
1) Leave a comment on the contest post (not this one).
2) Tell me which one you want to win.
3) Use a valid email address.
4) Smile and say cheese.
Okay? (I made up the fourth one just now, though, so you can ignore that.) Get your entry in, if you haven’t already.
