It’s that time again—time to grab a couple of dining certificates from Restaurant.com, where through September 27th, 2009, you can use code TREAT to take 70% off your purchase. That means $25 dining certificates for just $3 out of pocket, which means eating out is affordable again. Can I get an amen?

Wait. Better yet: Can I get dessert?

  1. AMEN, Sister! and a Death by Chocolate on the side…

  2. So let me make sure I understand this, to use the Gift Certificates you first have to spend a set amount of money? Is this criteria specified on the Gift Certificates, or can you use them as you please?

I was thinking of giving them as a present, but I am not sure I want to do that if there are restrictions on how much you have to spend before you can use them.

  3. Karen,

Yes there are restrictions on using these “gift certificates.” Restrictions include: Valid only on M-F, only dinner, 20% tip added before discount, must spend a certain amount pre-discount, no alcohol, must have buy a certain amount of entrees. I have found in my area these certificates aren’t worth it.

  4. I was skeptical too, but finally took the plunge after the most recent 90% off deal. I purchased a $50 off of $100 certificate for $2 (normally $20) and had a fabulous night out w/my husband at one of the more expensive restaurants in town. We went out on a Sat night & ordered the usual courses & wine. The restaurant did not automatically add a tip & our waitress was more than happy to accept our certificate.

The fine print on our certificate does say that 18% tip is added, but doesn’t have any restrictions regarding time/entrees/alcohol.etc. So, I would check out the restaurants in your area and try it out on a safe spot and see if it’s worth it or not for you. My husband & I will certainly be trying out more restaurants thanks to Restaurants.Com!
