A little death and humor, anyone?

A month or so ago, my friendly (and awesome) contact at Hachette Book Group sent me an ARC (that’s an advance reader copy) of A Field Guide to Burying Your Parents by Liza Palmer. I put it on the towering pile of books on my nightstand, and about a week ago I managed to finish it. (I like to swallow books whole, in a single sitting, and my life isn’t terribly amenable to that these days. So I squirrel a book away in my purse and read it in little chunks in the carpool line and such.) I’d never read anything by Palmer before and I have to tell you: I am smitten. Field Guide is funny and wrenching, delightful and tragic, and just plain a great read—even if you have to read it in the carpool line. But hey, don’t take my word for it: The cover blurb is by Meg Cabot, proclaiming Liza Palmer to be one of her new favorite writers. Yeah. That Meg Cabot.

Six lucky Want Not readers are going to receive a hot-off-the-presses copy of Field Guide, which is being released later this month, and one of you will also receive Liza Palmer’s previous two books as well (Conversations with the Fat Girl and Seeing Me Naked). Care to deck the halls with rockin’ chick lit? Me, too.

To enter, first go review the contest rules and regulations, then come on back here and leave a comment on this post by 7:59 a.m. Eastern (that’s 4:59 a.m. Pacific) on Monday, December 7th, 2009 to be in the running. Winners to be determined by random number generation and general awesomeness.

Ready? Go!
