I’ve avoided Downton Abbey for the same reason. I just picked up all three books though.
Oh, I LOVE my Downton Abbey! PBS cuts out parts of the original UK series, though, so if you ever decide to watch it, do so on Netflix. (All of season 1 is available there.)
Thanks for the Netflix tip, Julie! My parents love the series (dad is Welsh so he’s into everything BBC) but I couldn’t get into it- I think bc I missed season 1. Will have to get caught up!! Tempted on the the books too, sounds interesting Mir!
