As you gear up for your final shopping trips to get the kids ready to face another year of academia, you may want to consult this handy list of tax-free shopping days if you live in a state with sales tax on things like clothes.
Ooh, thanks for posting this, Mir! I just sent the relevant info the the neighborhood family e-list I run, so thanks to you, I get to look all-knowing. I’ve also noted on my calendar that I really need to head downtown to shop next week… tax-free PLUS summer clearance? That has my name on it. Literally.

Here in SC Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday are a zoo. But Friday morning, no one’s there yet…head over early to avoid the crowds!

I used to rush to these when I lived in a state that had these (and when I moved back to my home state that neighbored it) after I found out that they existed.
And then I married and moved and discovered something more amazing: Some states have tax-free clothing and stuff all. year. long.
I am so glad I moved to one of those states. I don’t miss the tax-free weekend rush at all. (Although the state I lived in/near had great sales and deals during that time in addition to the tax-free incentive.)
Does this work online? Say you wanted to purchase a computer from a store that generally charges sales tax in the applicable state. Thanks.
