October 14, 2006 | For the kids, Hot Hot Hot!
Remember how I said that Toys ‘R’ Us splitting from Amazon might make the awesome toy deals a thing of the past? Bit by bit, we’re feretting out the deals. There’s some nice stuff in the toys marked $5.99 or below at Amazon right now, and most will ship free with Super Saver Shipping (must get your order up to $25+).
This is the way to stock a gift closet with birthday party toys and/or toys to donate to charity for the holidays. Just make sure you read the reviews on anything you want to buy—some of that stuff is marked down because it’s lousy. (Most of it is perfectly fine, just be an informed consumer.)
Sometimes a $2 or $3 toy is a great alternative to a bag full o’ crap for party favors, too. Just sayin’.

Thank you, Mir! A $2 Jackie Robinson figurine is making its way to our house as a Hanukkah gift for my baseball-and-baseball-history-obsessed boy.
Lynn, yep, Magnetix pretty much suck.
