It’s been a little while since we had a good book giveaway, and I can think of nothing I like better as the weather warms and the trees begin to bloom than some southern fiction. (I swear that was true even before I moved to Georgia.)
Katie Crouch’s debut novel, Girls in Trucks, was termed “wise, wry and heartbreaking” when it came out last year. This year she’s returned with Men and Dogs, termed dark and funny by the critics. Methinks the pair of novels are just what the doctor ordered on a sunny day with a tall glass of sweet tea.
So! Who wants to win a pair of Katie Crouch novels? I’m giving away five sets of her books, because our friends at Hachette are extremely generous. If this sounds up your alley, first go review the contest rules and regulations, then come on back here and leave a comment on this post by 11:59 p.m. Eastern (that’s 8:59 p.m. Pacific) on Wednesday, March 31st, 2010 to be entered. Winners to be determined by random number generation and about to say “y’all” without sounding stupid.
Ready? Go!
Me please! Y’all take care now, ya hear?
Y’all fixin’ to send me some books??

Love southern fiction. Even if I’ve never lived in the south.

A day does not pass that I do not say y’all. Free books are awesome.
These sound like perfect vacation books! My friends think it’s really funny that I hoard books (don’t read them right away) so I can take them with me when I go on vacation.
I’m in!
I’d love some new books! But I might stick to good ol’ Northern unsweet tea. Don’t hold it against me! 🙂
Someone once told me y’all is singular and you have to say “all y’all” to a group.
Sounds perfect!
Being from northern MN I’m not sure I can even get my mouth to say y’all, but I’d love the books!
here in pittsburgh we say yinz instead of y’all – but i’d still love to read the books.
Great giveaway, thanks!
oh, pretty please, pick me!
Bless your heart, Mir. 😉
Mmmmmmm, tea. Now I’m going to have to make some tonight. I’d love the books to go along with it.
I’m a born-and-bred northern plains girl, but I’ve been saying “y’all” since junior high. It’s amazing what having an Air Force base in town can do to broaden your linguistic horizons 🙂
Me please!
Y’all’s is much better! And that fake possesive cannot possibly be said without sounding stupid unless you are my gramdmother.
I need some new books!
Pick me, please! I need some books to read on my trip to Hawaii!
Yes please. I’m in desperate need for some new books!
Those books belong down here with me in Louisiana!
sure would love some free books
I would love to read these over my upcoming maternity leave! Yeah, I know, wishful thinking to have time to read with a newborn and a 2-year-old running around, but I can dream!
I cannot say “ya’ll” without sounding somewhat counterfeit. Occasionally, I try out a “you all,” which sometimes works, but mostly not. I guess I need to read more Southern Lit.
Love them both, new books and sweet tea!
I’m in need of some new reading material.
Need books to stay sane….
Pick me!
I can always use some new reads.
Books, y’all!
Virginia born and bred girl here – would love some fine Southern literature to read while sipping my lemonade! suzyqpon@yahoo.com

I need books! I need books! The library is so poorly stocked here and I can’t remember the last time I bought a new book. Please, please, please, take pity on me random-number-generator! :o)
Oh, honey, I can “y’all” with the best of ’em.
Love me some books…
the key to not sounding like an idiot is just in saying it quickly…one syllable, no pause at all between “ya” and “all.” and THANK YOU for putting the apostrophe in the right place! it makes me CRAZY when people put it in the middle! ok, rant over. i’m in, y’all! (it CAN TOO be singular.)
I hope I can say it without sounding silly, since I’ve been saying it my entire life. (And I agree with Amelia and the placement of the apostrophe. I can’t stand it when people spell it “ya’ll.” That is not the same as “y’all,’ y’know? 😉 )
I’d love to get some more books for summers lounging at the pool!
Yeah for books!
y’all need to send me these books 😀

Me! Y’all is singular. All y’all is plural. All y’all’s is plural possessive
Here in central Kentucky, it’s you all instead of y’all, the tea is sweet, but not nearly as sweet as it is in the deep South, and the warm weather keeps making an appearance and then leaving again. New books to read while Mother Nature makes up her mind would be wonderful!
I want those books!
And please remember y’all is plural. NEVER, EVER say it in the singular. please
I could really use a new book or two. I keep thinking I’ll pick up something at the library, but I never seem to have the time after the girls get their stuff…
I’d love to slip back into the south (after moving north).
Me thinks a pair of books will be great since basketball season is just about over. The porch is calling my name !!!
Thank’s Mir.

New books rock
Weeeehoooo. Nothin’ better on a hot day than books and sweet tea.
Sounds good!
Yay books!
I might could come up with a y’all, so’s long as it is spelled correctly y’all…(ya all) not ya’ll (ya WILL). But in all seriousness…how “y’all” can NOT creep into your language in the south after even a few weeks…
I’ve succumbed to the y’all after living with my Georgian husband for over 10 years. It’s a handy little word, I must admit.
Oh! Please pick lucky number 184, ya’ll. 🙂
Yeah another new author. I’d love to win.
I’d love me some more books, y’all!!
Those books sounds delightful! Alas, I refuse to admit I’m not in Massachusetts anymore and I told my girls that “y’all” wasn’t allowed at home. (I’m not hating on you, Southerners, I’m just trying to make me a safeplace!)
Bless your heart for giving away these books.
After living in the south for seven years, I still can’t say y’all. But my yankee husband gets mistaken for a local. But I read y’all quite well.
Cool!
