Camping, anyone?

This is a great price (52% off) on a good sleeping bag, and it’s eligible for free Super Saver Shipping.

My kids are finally old enough, I think, for us to go camping this summer without me feeling an overwhelming urge to abandon them in the forest. For about $20/night we can go to an area park and have an adventure that includes roasted marshmallows. We’re all very excited (about the s’mores, anyway; we’ll see how they do when it’s time to sleep on the ground and wake up with the squirrels).

Did you know that Amazon has a sale every Friday? I check it every week, whether I need anything or not. You never know what you might find.

  1. I LOVE THIS SITE!

I first took my youngest (of three) camping when she was four weeks old; her sibs were 7 and 4. (Yes, I was mental. Some sort of postpartum psychosis, I’m sure.) I made her a weeny little baby sleeping bag out of two receiving quilts I’d been given, and then her dad and I tucked her, in her wee bag, between us in our big double bag. It cost nothing, because the quilts were gifts. HA!

My total must-have for camping: something to sleep on. Air mattresses or foam. When we went as a kid, we just lay those bags flat on the tent floor. When I recall the number of cold, sleepless nights I suffered, freezing and with a rock jutting into my kidneys, I’m astounded I was willing to do it ever again. (Pre-partum psychosis?)

  2. Wonderful site, Mir! I can’t wait to dig in.

Do you use this sleeping bag? I need a couple for my kids for this summer, and I’m totally overwhelmed by all the options.
