It’s good customer service, if you can get it

Have you ever had a problem with your order at Amazon? Probably you went through the site to contact them via email, and hopefully you got the help you needed. I find that they’re pretty good about addressing issues via email in a fairly timely manner.

But sometimes, wouldn’t you rather talk to a human on the phone? I know I would. Have you ever tried to find their phone number on the site? They would rather you email them, so they can deal with you on their time, in their terms. However, if you do manage to get customer service on the phone, they’re wonderful. Very responsive, courteous—all the things you wish for in customer relations. (I ordered a pair of pillowcases over a month ago that are now showing as shipping in late January; I was able to get them to send me something comparable, instead, and cancel the previous order.)

So. Lean in a little closer. Amazon’s phone number is 888-280-4331. Tuck it away for reference, or at least remember that you can search for it here on the site. Particularly during the holiday shopping season, it’s a useful number to have.

  1. On a related note, I recently read about the website http://www.gethuman.com. A description:
“The gethuman project is a consumer movement to improve the quality of phone support in the US. This free website is run by volunteers and is powered by over one million consumers who demand high quality phone support from the companies that they use.”
While I have not utilized it, there are listings of “shortcuts” to get to talk to a real person at a huge listing of companies. I think this might be a good thing to tuck away as well.

  2. Thanks, Andrea! Great link!

  3. ya know, they’ll probably change that number now that it’s posted on YOUR website 😉 *giggle*

only kidding. i have had incredible experience with Amazon, but i’ve never actually needed them to resolve any issues for me.

still, locking that number away for the future 😉

  4. I needed to talk to amazon today and clicked the talk on the phone feature. It asked call now or in 5 minutes and various other times. I clicked call now, and my phone started ringing literally that second. I had to be on hold for a rep, but not for too long. I was happy to see they added a feature where I could talk to a person.

  5. heya Mir 🙂 I discovered that phone number when I had an issue with a registry order last year before my daughter arrived, I dialled 411 on my phone and asked for it and they had a listing 🙂 so if you ever misplace the number 😉
