It’s at times like these that I get all misty and nostalgic…

… and wish I’d coded the blog to include numbers on the comments. Dang.

Nevertheless, I hopped over to my favorite random number generator and asked it to pretty please give me a number between 1 and 372 (!). It selected 261. I then carefully counted through all these pretty comments and finally landed on 261: The winner of a year’s subscription to a Scholastic Kids Gift-of-the-Month club is bec 37!

Bec graciously accepted the news that she’d won, exclamation points and all, and indicated that her boys will be thrilled to receive a year of Veggie Tales. I’m a little jealous, frankly. Because I am totally a pirate who doesn’t do anything.

Thanks to everyone who played along, and a great, big, huge THANKS to the folks at Scholastic Kids for their generous offer. I love this sort of matchmaking!

  1. Congratulations Bec!

  2. Yeah Bec…We love the Veggies too! and to anyone who might be interested, I highly recommend Phil Vischers book, “Me, Myself, and Bob.” It is the story of his ‘Big Idea’ for Veggie Tales as well and the rise and fall of it all. You will appreciate the veggies (and Phil) so much more after this very good read!

  3. Wow, I am even more in awe now that I know you had to *manually count* to me! I think I should play 261 in the Pick 3 lottery now. Thanks Mir and Scholastic!

I’m quite new to blogging (I mean the writing; I’ve been reading for years) and I think I have about 1.5 readers, but I suppose it’s time to add a post plugging Want Not for whatever that’s worth.

P.S. I’ve! been! trying! not! to! use! exclamation! points! but a new Charles Schultz biography is out, and it seems appropriate!!!

  4. Congrats, Bec!! I will have to check out your blog!

One of my favorite Veggie Tales lines:
You look like Captain Crunch!! 🙂

  5. Congrats Bec. My favorite line in the Veggie Tales is from Dave and the Giant Pickle. As Dave gets introduced the sheep are in front of him and the narrator is trying to move a sheep and says, “Uh, shoo, Fluffy.” I know, you gotta watch it.

  6. Yay, Bec! Congratulations! My kids love Veggie Tales, too! Wholesome, yet crunchy vegetable fun!
