A cure for the Friday blues (oranges)

Handy tip from me to you: Don’t put an orange crayon in your dryer. Particularly when you’re in the pre-holiday-trip preparation madness phase and doing laundry late at night. You’re welcome!

I don’t think that the Amazon Friday Sale can give me back the two hours I spent crawling inside the dryer drum and spot-cleaning all my children’s clothes, but at this point, I’ll take what I can get. (Friday Sale, take me away!)

I’m a little bit in love with this Bounty Hunter Educational Archeology Pro Kit. For about the cost of a decent metal detector, you get that and all the accessories your budding archeologist needs to feel like the real thing. Awesome.

Need some last-minute gifts? You can’t go wrong with a plush throw, particularly when it has over a hundred positive reviews and is just $8.99.

These towel sets make me want new towels. (Okay; it doesn’t take much to make me want new towels.) I really doubt the original price was really $130, but $19.99 is a steal for those. (Psssst—got a wedding coming up? Great gift for that!)

Cheap! Flannel! Sheets! (The polar bear/snowmen ones are killing me with the cuteness.)

I continue to be fascinated by this knife set. Because it’s always a good idea to have knives that look like toys in a house with small children.

Three little words that could be nirvana or disaster: Chocolate fudge cheeseball. (Also: White chocolate cherry cheeseball!)

Have a Ben 10 fan in the house? You can get this Omnitrix digital watch for just $9.50, and get free one-day shipping! (My son would kill for this. Alas, I’m a big meanie and also done shopping.)

Don’t forget to check out the Friday Five, five MP3 albums for just $5 each. I see some Sinatra in there….

Also remember to check the Gold Box and Lightning Deals today (I do love that freaky-looking AeroGarden).

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a date with some GooGone and a toothbrush….

  1. Good luck with that Goo Gone. It should do the trick, but it may take several tries. My last run was with a bright green gel pen in the wash.

  2. When we had a run-in with a navy blue crayon and half of my kids’ clothing, I found a website that suggested Cold Water Tide, Spray N Wash, and a run with hot water. Put in the normal amount of Tide, half a cup of Spray N Wash, and set the whole thing on a hot water wash. I did that twice and only had one shirt with a leftover stain. Hope that helps!

  3. You can also try the Carbona formula for crayons. They are the little yellow bottles in the detergent section of the grocery store. They work great.

I’m STILL grumbling about the pack of gum my hubby left in his pants pocket that made it in the dryer, oh, 5 years ago!

  4. Hey! We were on the same brain wave or something last night! Except, mine was a pull-up through the washing machine… Somehow I think that the little pill-y things I’m dealing with aren’t quite so difficult as crayon, though. Hope it comes out quickly!

  5. I looove you, Ms Pretty! I just scored two sets of flannel sheets and the Ben 10 thing for $27! Thanks!!!

  6. I was tempted by the towels, but they got too many bad reviews, so never mind.

  7. New towels always feel like such a luxury…

  8. Must be this snowstorm, because suddenly a plush throw seems like the perfect hostess gift. Too bad one of my parties is tomorrow night and 1-day shipping says it will be there by Monday.

  9. Holy crap. I just spent $41 that I never intended to. But, all of us will have new cozy flannel sheets to help us weather the storm.

  10. I went through the crayon disaster recently and if I could find the post I’d link it here for you. You need Goop (find it in your auto section), OxyClean, and your detergent. Goop the heck out of the stain and let it sit for at least 20 minutes. Wash as usual with extra detergent, a couple of huge honkin’ scoops of OxyClean, and use super hot water. I got 90% of red crayon out the first time (and it looked like my son had hemorrhaged on his pillow case…shudder), and the second time through (exact same process) it all came out. To get it out of your dryer, scrape off the residue with a plastic knife and run a bunch of old towels through on high heat. That should take care of most of it.
God, I really hope I never have to do that again. I think I put the fear of God into the boys after the last time.
And I only have ONE more gift I need to get and I’ll get that at the childrens museum today. 🙂

  11. I scored the throw and two king sized duvet covers for $50! WOO HOO

  12. picked up two throws for my mother in law and grandmother in law! Perfect color, perfect price. I love online shopping. 🙂

  13. I just bought one of the plush throws the other day for 9.99 & it just came & let me say I think it is so nice. Looks expensive in a zip up bag & feels like a plush Gund stuffed animal from my childhood. I am ordering a few more.

  14. Those sheets are really cute. Too bad I’m done shopping for my daughter. There’s always next year…
