We finally got a day off (Thursday) school (although I’m staff, so I still have to go in even if the kids aren’t there), but we’ve had -25 degree weather every morning from Tuesday onward (NOT including windchill, which put it between -40 and -55, depending on the day). Over 100 hours of frigid cold in the negative temps and extreme windchills make for cranky kids (trapped inside) and cranky adults (trapped with them). I was so glad to finally have a day at work without them on Thursday, though. *grins* (Although I’m still not sure what was so different about Thursday than Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, since it was just as cold those other days…)
All that to say this: I just looked and saw that it was about 10 degrees here, so I looked at my husband and said, “Whoo-hoo! It’s almost a dozen degrees here! We should take off our clothes and run around outside!” Of course, I’m still not accounting for the windchill (which, living on a huge hill of a city on Lake Superior, is pretty fierce still), but hey, anything above 0 before windchill is a heat wave around here these days!
I need to be able to go outside, though, because I think I’ve been over-shopping (but getting GREAT deals).

We just made a much-delayed Target run today because it got UP TO the double digits above. In fact, it’s now up to 22 here in Chicago, although I can’t say that wind felt balmy.
