Costco also has a great deal with american express. If you get their Amex card the membership is free and the rebates off the amex cover the yearly fee easily. So, you get a free costco membership and maybe some extra freebies from the amex card depending on how much you spend there.
I just renewed my Sam’s membership and had a few doubts about paying the $40 fee. However, I was quickly reminded how the savings add up. They gave me a $10 gift card for renewing, and on my first trip alone I saved at least $60 in pool chemicals over buying them at the local pool store. So on the first day I’ve saved more than the membership fee! Definitely worth while!
Yes, but will BJ’s give you the member prices with this deal? Way back when, Sam’s club had a coupon for “free membership for a day!” so we went and loaded up a cart, only to be told at checkout that we could purchase the stuff, but we had to pay an extra 5% because we weren’t members. WTF? Guess who walked out and hasn’t been in a Sam’s club since? That still makes me mad.
And no, I’m really not a hardened curmudgeon in real life. Usually. 😉
Honestly, BabiesRUs is a better deal for buying big cases of diapers. Sam’s had the same size cases of diapers, but only three or four dollars cheaper than BRU. If you wait for a $5 off coupon from BRU and combine it with a mannie, then you save more money than going to Sam’s.
