Still looking for that perfect Mother’s Day gift? Ever since the untimely death of my mixer, I’ve been trying to convince my family to get me this little gadget (what? I use it to make stuff for them, I think that’s fair!), but if you’d rather let someone else do the baking (and if you’re not up for spending hundreds of dollars), you should check out the plethora of goodies at David’s Cookies to celebrate the big day. You can use coupon code MDAY09LS for 15% off, too, and shipping is either $4.95 or free, depending on what you select.

Mmmmm… cookies.

  1. I have had the 5 quart mixer for more than 20 years now and I love it. It still works great. And I am just now getting into some of the attachments and am going to try making my own pasta noodles.

  2. Hey Mir, I bought one of these when it was $327.99 with a $40 rebate. The only bad thing I can say is it is too large for some things. You need to plan on making double batches or the bowl is too big. But it is SOOO Pretty sitting on my island…..

  3. ooh, that is the mixer we have and it is pretty good. It works just fine for regular size batches of cookies, cakes, bread, etc. The dough hook is perfect for kneading. 🙂 We also have the ice cream maker attachment and it makes some yummy soft serve. Only issue I have is it has to stay out on the counter. It is too tall to fit in my cabinets and if you lay it down on its side all the oil runs out of the motor and makes a BIG mess. Don’t ask how I know this. HA!

  4. Er, I had always been told that it was inappropriate to buy women, especially those very close to you, kitchen gadgets as presents. Old school stereotypes, etc. I’m talking in general, not for this specific item because if you’re going to spend over $300 for a shiny new blender as a gift, you hopefully know your target recipient pretty well. I’ve never quite understood this guideline because as a guy, I would always be happy with a cool gadget gift. I know, it depends on the person and how cool the gadget is. Generic vacuum? Meh. Robot vacuum? Oooh!

Do you have any other thoughts on the subject?
