Happy Halloween! We have one down with a fever, here. Of course. I sense that buying a lot of clearanced Halloween candy in the name of “making it up to the child” is in my future.

In the meantime, perhaps you’d like to take a break from last-minute costume prep to do a little shopping…?

There’s an adorable little black patent evening clutch available in the Target Daily Deals for $16 shipped that would be perfect for those upcoming holiday parties. Or for your teen who has formals and such to get to.

You want shoes? Oh, baby, it’s no trick—we’ve got shoes. There’s the weekend deals at 6pm.com, including $20 for Chinese Laundry and 65% off Asics; there’s the Fall Clearance at Shoes.com, where SALE20 takes an additional 20% off sale shoes, and code FALL takes 15% off non-sale items; there’s 20% off at Shoebuy.com with coupon code TREAT; and last (but not least), the BOGO sale is back at Famous Footwear, plus coupon code PUMPKIN will give you an additional 10% off. (Shipping is a flat $6.95 on your order at 6pm, free on 3+ pairs of shoes at Famous Footwear, and always free at Shoes.com and Shoebuy.) (Phew! Shoetastic!)

As I write this, the active Lightning Deal at Amazon is a Zombie Movie DVD bundle I really want. Hee.

Have you been thinking about buying a Roku, maybe as a gift for the whole family this holiday season? (Never heard of Roku? It’s streaming movies on demand, and works with a number of services, but if you have Netflix, you can add a Roku for just the cost of the unit, and enjoy immediate access to thousands of movies and shows.) Right now they’re offering free shipping for a limited time, and they’ve just introduced a new, cheaper unit—if you don’t need HD capability, you can now buy a “standard” Roku for just $80.

Duty calls (“Mooooooom! Can you get me some juuuuuice?”), but perhaps we’ll have a contest later. Seems like a while since we had a weekend chance to win, doesn’t it?

Happy haunting, everyone!

  1. Mir,
Do you know if the Roku for HD (the middle and top priced ones) will work even if you don’t have an HD t.v.?
We don’t have HD,but maybe one day we will….so I was looking at the $99 one…I’m trying to surprise my hubby with this so I can’t ask him! He would know for sure!

  2. Thank you for the shoe links! My son and I needed new ones and I had been putting it off (ie, looking for a good deal). I’m smart that way 🙂

  3. I bought the Roku! Very excited! Thanks for the post and advice today!
