Every time the entire series of The Wire shows up in the Amazon Gold Box, like it has today, I point it out and every Wire-lover comes out of the woodwork to declare it the greatest show ever, and every time I think, “Huh. I should maybe get that.”
But then I see something shiny and get distracted.
Maybe today will be different; after all, 60 hours of suspenseful viewing (more if you count the bonus features) for $90? That’s a lot of bang for the buck. Even if the popcorn isn’t included.
I was extremely skeptical of all the praise for The Wire. Then I netflixed it…and it’s even better than everyone says. Seriously amazing television.
But a little too depressing for regular viewing, so I’ll pass on the box set.
