Pride, Prejudice, and zombie preparedness

Sometimes I get very cool things in the mail as a result of my job. And sometimes after I am done oohing and aahing over how cool they are, I pass them on to you.

This week’s contest is a deluxe press kit I received for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. If you are unfamiliar, Seth Grahame-Smith took the Jane Austen classic and, um, zombified it. It’s brilliant. I didn’t think I could love anything more than the book, and then I received this:

It’s an antique-looking mini wooden/leather suitcase, filled with both the “Now with 30% more zombies!” hardcover version of the book and a variety of artifacts suitable for a good old-fashioned Victorian zombie apocalypse. For example, the lovely pillar calendar is tagged, “Keep vigil near this flame, or use it as a weapon with which to ignite the lapel of a particularly incessant unmentionable.” All of the items inside are similarly tagged, all are adorable, and several of them smell good (soap!).

This is the perfect gift for anyone who loves Jane Austen. Or zombies.

I would love to win this. I love Jane Austen, and I loved this book. I am borrowing a copy of the Colin Firth version of the movie P&P so that my husband can understand the original, and can then read the book. I know he won’t have the patience to read all of the original P&P. He’s a zombie lover, so I think he’d get a kick out of it.
