Christmas creepiness in July

Welcome to July, and all it includes! Surely you’re gearing up for some stories about people doing really stupid things with fireworks in the next few days, but before that happens, maybe you’d like to think about Christmas.

What?

Personally, I am deeply grateful that this whole Elf on the Shelf nonsense wasn’t around when my kids were little, because I find it beyond creepy. I know, I know; it’s cute! It’s harmless! No, sorry. It creeps me out. But if you think it’s awesome, I happen to know that the elf hardly ever goes on sale, so the fact that Amazon has this elf and book combo available for just $15.86 means now is the time to buy if you’d like to scar your children for life start the tradition at your house. This is the lowest price at which it’s ever been offered.

As for me, I’ll stick to threatening to sell my kids to the circus, no elves required.

  1. I found Elf creepy too, until I became a teacher. Now it’s one of the best behavior tools I have found around one of the times when kids are typically struggling to keep it all together as the holidays arrive! This is an AWESOME deal, purchasing for me and a friend… thanks Mir!

  2. I’m seeing it for $19.99??

  3. My kids would never fall for this. Nothing works for us! I think all it would do is give my husband a took for torturing me, by placing it in strange spots so I will find it watching me at random times… then claim he never touched it.

  4. tool, not took 🙂

  5. We got the Elf as a gift. I thought the doll was a little creepy looking but I didn’t expect the reaction that it got.

At the time my kids were 6 and 4. There were tears and hysterical meltdowns the likes of which I have never seen again. They were TERRIFIED.

I sold it to a local kids consignment place.

  6. I too am grateful my kids were too old by the time I knew what this was. I just don’t get it. I think it’s creepy.
