If your family is anything like ours, you still have a Netflix subscription, but most of the time you use the instant streaming while the disc they’ve sent you gathers dust over by the television. I don’t know why this is; maybe we’re just instant gratification types, or maybe my husband keeps putting really lame movies at the top of our queue (ahem). Anyway! Every now and then we actually want to watch a movie you have to pay for, and the idea of getting up off the couch and leaving the house causes me to whine and complain.
Enter Amazon Instant Video. No leaving the couch! You don’t even need pants! But sometimes it’s expensive, and you know I’m cheap. So thank goodness that right now they’re having their half-yearly sale, with pages and pages of videos available for just $.99 apiece.
Go ahead and buy ’em now, while they’re on sale. Your 24-hour rental period starts when you start playing it (either online or via your streaming device, like a Roku or a Wii), and you have up to a month to get around to watching it.

Heh. I dropped the disk portion of my Netflix subscription several years ago, and never regretted it. I can cycle through two, or three (sometimes more) movies in a couple of days if I’m quilting (they run in the background, so it’s debatable whether or not I actually “watch” them).
Amazon Instant Video rocks. (I do just sit and watch when I have to pay for them).
I’m becoming a streaming ninja with Amazon Prime, Hulu+ and now Aereo, but oddly have kept the physical disc side of Netflix. Only because with all the streaming options, it’s the only way to see new movies (as far as subscription services go). Granted, if I wanted to pay for each rental, then I’d do Amazon Instant Viewing, and for 0.99, I’ll definitely go through the listings–thanks!
