In the market for a rice cooker? I pink puffy heart ours, as I’m (for some reason) incapable of making rice properly without one. It all started for me, years ago, when someone asked about rice cookers, and I was introduced to the land of fuzzy logic and all sorts of other things I’d never known before. For example: Did you know that if you have a high-end rice cooker, you can make risotto in it without having to stand there stirring it forever? It’s true! My rice cooker is a Sanyo, and I like it a lot, but deep in my heart I’ve always longed for a Zojirushi, which seems to be the top-of-the-line brand.
Right now Amazon has the Zojirushi NS-WAC10 Micom Fuzzy-Logic 5-1/2-Cup Rice Cooker and Warmer available for $100 shipped, which is the lowest I’ve ever seen it. Certainly nothing you want to pick up on a whim, but if you’ve been in the market for one of these, this may be the deal for you.
Besides, “fuzzy logic” and “Zojirushi” are just a lot of fun to say. (Hey, I have a fever. I can’t be held responsible for what I say today.)
[Edited to add: Look in the “More Buying Choices” column on the right to find the $99.99 Amazon offering.]
I kind of enjoy stirring risotto for an hour. It gives me a reason to hold (relatively) still.
My risotto recipe (from Elise @ simplyrecipes.com) only takes 20-25 minutes of stirring. And it’s ooh so good! 🙂
I have a Zojirushi and love it. But now you must explain how to make risotto in it. (Please!)
All gone now, I guess. : (
Hee, I didn’t know you’d finally caved and joined us on the rice-cooker side!
Risotto is awesome made in a pressure cooker.
