I’m feeling Lucky today

Ahhhhh, you know how I love my 11:00 fix of daily deals! Today Rue La La is featuring a Lucky Brand boutique—‘scuse me while I scoop up some jeans—and Fab.com has a variety of fabulous (of course!) boutiques, plus if you purchased anything from the 100+ best gifts under $100 boutique at Fab.com in the past, you should have a $5 credit in your account today.

This is a better morning pick-me-up than a cookie, I swear.

Modern Family DVD/Blu-ray goodness

Geez, the prices on movies and TV shows are dropping over at Amazon faster than I can track them.

Here’s one that may just make our long holiday drive up north more bearable: Right now you can get Modern Family on DVD for just $12.99/season for both Season 1 and Season 2. I’m envisioning those making a very long drive a lot more peaceful.

If you prefer Blu-ray, those are available for just $18.49 for either Season 1 or Season 2. (I would prefer to get Blu-ray and watch it while lounging on the couch and eating popcorn, but I will settle for DVDs which can be viewed in the car and keep children from arguing….)

This Emmy-winning series has received all sorts of critical acclaim, and with this price drop, I may finally get to see what all the fuss is about.

A very merry start to the week

Don’t want to wait until the end of the week to fight the crowds for Black Friday deals? Even though most of those deals will be accessible online, maybe you just don’t want to wait. And if you’re shopping Old Navy, Gap, or Banana Republic, you don’t have to—today only, use coupon code MERRY at all three stores to save 35%.

I can’t promise prices won’t drop even lower at the end of the week, but I can promise that this code makes for some decent deals today, minus the stress of shopping on the busiest retail day of the year.

Get your dino-fear on

Yep, Blu-ray and DVD prices are starting to drop all over the place (’tis the season to cuddle up for movies, after all), and while it’s not very holiday-themed, who can resist a trilogy of movies about dinosaurs eating everyone? Probably not me.

Grab the Jurassic Park Ultimate Trilogy on Blu-ray at Amazon right now for just $30 shipped, which is the lowest price it’s ever been.

And then deck the halls with… uhhh… intestines, maybe. I’m sorry.

Just a lazy Saturday

I’m preserving my energy, you see, for next week. Next week is when things get crazy—we’ll have our second Big Prize Week plus we’ll be gearing up for Black Friday and then, the main event itself. So today, I’m slacking off a little. I have a few deal suggestions for you, though.

Check out the current clearance at Pottery Barn Teen—lots of backpacks and duffel bags and laptop/tablet carriers (not just for teens!) about 75% off and with free shipping. Nice stuff, there.

Children’s Place is doing another Buy More, Save More event; everyone can use coupon code A6F2011 for 15% off, or get 20% off your $40+ order with Z5F2011, or 25% off $50+ with code Y5F2011.

It’s Super Saturday over at Macy’s, and coupon code XJW562A992 should take an extra $10 off your $75+ purchase (some restrictions apply, but I tried it on clothing already on sale and it worked).

Amazon’s Goldbox Deal today is a 16GB SDHC flash memory card for just $17. Remember when we happily paid $50 for one that held, oh, 250MB? The good ol’ days!

I picked up a few copies of Papertoy Monsters from Fab.com today; it’s slightly cheaper than Amazon has it, and under $10 if you have credit you’re looking to spend. That’s perfect for my gift closet, as making endless creatures out of paper seems to be something my kids and their friends are always happy to do.

Sit back and enjoy the weekend, because starting Monday, it’s going to be a wild ride all up in here. I hope you’re ready!

Warm! Cozy! Cheap!

Last year I gave my kids Snuggies for Christmas. They went absolutely nuts with joy. I can’t explain it; it’s not as though we don’t have 57 other fleece blankets scattered around the house. But there’s something about a blanket with arms, I guess. I’m pretty sure that’s the symbol of Ultimate Slothdom, right there.

Today at Woot, they have “blankets with arms” (they can’t call them Snuggies or Slankets or any other brand name) available for just $1.99 plus $5 shipping. $7 for one of these is pretty good, but you can order up to 3 with the same shipping rate, so obviously your best deal is to snag 3 for around $11 shipped.

And you won’t have any trouble figuring out what to do with them, because everyone loves blankets with arms.

On the first day of Deals, HDC gave to me…

40% off all Christmas trees and ornaments, plus free shipping!

(It doesn’t make for a very melodious tune, but hey, I’ll take the savings.)

Today (November 17th) only, add any qualifying item to your cart at Home Decorators Collection and 40% will be taken off (even if it’s already on sale) at checkout. Easy peasy.

And they’re going to do a deal a day for the next 12 days! I can hardly wait.

Listen like a rebel

One of the featured deals at 6pm.com today is a Skullcandy boutique, and now that they’re doing free shipping on everything, that makes it doubly easy to just pick up a pair of earbuds or whatever on the cheap, maybe for a stocking stuffer.

Every time they’ve had this before, I’ve decided against ordering because the shipping kind of killed it. But no shipping means happy listening for a couple of folks on my shopping list….
